The Maya built their civilization based on ideas from the agricultural based civilization the Olmec. The Olmec had built large cities, trade routes, and created settlements in Mexico. The Mayan families had daily chores that they need to complete everyday. Peasent life was a lot of work. Women got up before sunrise and started a fire to burn throughout the day. The daughters assisted their mother with cleaning corn, then grinding it so it was then turned into meal. After that she used the meal to make tortillas. During the day the women and daughters took care of young children and their animals. For fathers and sons, they had to work in the fields. If the fields didn't need attention, the boys hunted and trapped animals. Mayans had many other customs that they attended. Such as the marriage ceremony between a male at the age of 20 and a female at the age of as young as 14, or the ceremony for 3 month old girls to introduce them to tools they would be using in their later years. Not only did they have ceremonies they also had special religious customs, The Maya believed in over 140 gods.

The Aztects had their own customs that were different than the other empires. It was home to over 15 million people. It had its own way of living and had their own ceremonies they performed that were custom to their civilization. The class structure had five main classes. The ruler and his family, government officials, priests, and high ranking warriors were all in one class, then commoners, peasants, and last slaves. Citizens did not have their own right to pick who they married. Marriage was based on a match maker's choice. The only rule to marriage was that the male had to be 20 years old and the female had to be older than 15. Besides that is was all up to the match maker's decision. After the marriage of higher ranking citizens, the man was in charge of the household, while women might practice a profession. However women could also purchase land and sell their goods if they wanted to. For commoners it was different. Men and women were needed around the house. Men built the house and worked a craft or as farmers. Women were in charge of taking care of the children (which was the most important job after marriage) and the animals, keeping the household in check, and preparing food for meals as well as attending the garden. They also wove beautiful clothes.
Markets were also very important to the Aztec society. Each one of the cities had its own market. The market consisted of goods, costumes and shields, and many other things that were needed.

The Inca empire was developed in the Andes Mountains of South America. It arose in the 1400s C.E. and fell in 1532 when they were conquered by the Spanish. It was 2,500 miles i distance and in order to communicate they used people called chasquis to relay one message to another place. Their social structure only had 3 layers: emperor, nobles and commoners. Emperors were in charge of the empire, nobles were in charge of all government duties, and the commoners were owned by the government or the emperor. Families of the Inca empire belonged to bigger clans called ayllu , which was the basic unit of the Inca society. Everyone had chores to do in the society except very young or very old people. Most Incas were born into the ayllus of hardworking commoners. Girls took care of babies, got water, cooked, made clothing, and learned to weaved. Boys looked after the animals and helped in the fields. Marriage was performed between a male in his early 20s and girls could marry as young as 16. Like the other groups they believed in many gods. They believed that the gods were in charge of nature. In the church beautiful girls for 8 to 10 worked in temples. They also made human sacrifices like the other empires.
