In September a Belgian journalist was expelled from the country, and in June and August, the renewal of accreditation to a French citizen and a US citizen was denied. At least 15 times, Congolese and foreign journalists were intimidated, detained and imprisoned while carrying out their work.

Working days of more than 14 hours in exchange for one euro. Rebel soldiers, armed with wooden poles, to hit the miners to work faster. Women, some pregnant, looking for the mineral to be able to exchange it for some food. Or children, many do not even reach 12 years old, forced to work inside the tunnels, since their size is perfect to extract the mineral that is inside. There is no day that there is no work accident. The average is one dead miner a day. In the rainy season the figure multiplies, since the avalanches of earth or the collapses inside the tunnels are frequent.
