The author taught us that the French came close to North Caroline and decided they wanted to cultivate and show Native Americans how to participate in trading fur. The author's point of view was that he thought this was a good thing for the Natives American so they can go along and trade so it can lead them out of the life they were currently in, one he described saying it was miserable. And to build friendships with the enemies instead of hating them.

The author teaches us about how the Dutch people came to the Americas mainly to trade. Quote " ...who were primarily interested in developing a profitable fur trade with the Indians."(Document A). the author of the article doesn't necessarily have a point  of view, but we do get an excerpt from a charter of "the Dutch West India Company"(June 3rd, 1621). Quote " Without [protection from the Dutch government], these people cannot be profitably protected from pirates and capture which will happen in so very long a voyage."(Document 2). We can assume the voyage was dangerous because of pirates, and was also possibly pointless if the trade items were stolen. We also learn the Dutch Government didn't send protection fro these trading ships. Overall, we learn the Dutch people came to the Americas in order to trade fur, but the trip was dangerous due to pirates, and the Dutch Government didn't help with these things.
