The normal map for my texture gives the brick more detail. A normal map is similar to a bump map. It uses the relationship between normal space coordinates and color space values with a range of (-1,1) and colors from (0, 255) in order to map fine details and the normal space of an object.

The bump map for my texture gives the bricks a 3D effect. A bump map, also known as parallax maping, uses a grey scale image file that contains height and depth information separated into light and dark values. Some strengths of a bump map is being able to make a 2D image appear 3D. A weakness of a bump map is that the image can tear at certain angles.

A diffuse is an image file that contains color and pattern information for a texture. My diffuse has a pattern that will allow it to look symmetrical throughout the whole texture. It is needed because it makes the texture look normal and the same throughout the whole thing.

We need them to make our games batter and more real looking. We use bump maps, normal maps, and diffuse maps to do these things and they are all types of texture mapping.
