         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><strong>Petrarchan</strong></li><li><strong>Shakespearean</strong></li><li><strong>Spenserian</strong></li></ul><div><br>Because of the structure of Italian, the rhyme scheme of the Petrarchan sonnet is more easily fulfilled in that language than in English. The original Italian sonnet form divides the poem's fourteen lines into two parts, the first part being an octave and the second being a sestet.<br><br>Shakespeare's sonnets are composed of 14 lines, and most are divided into three quatrains and a final, concluding couplet, rhyming abab cdcd efef gg. This sonnet form and rhyme scheme is known as the 'English' sonnet.<br><br>Spenserian stanza, A stanza is a set of lines in a poem grouped together and set apart from other stanzas in the poem either by a double space or by different indentation. ... That is to say that both stanzas and paragraphs contain related information, while new thoughts and concepts become the next stanza or paragraph.<br><br><br>The primary difference between a Shakespearean sonnet and a Petrarchan sonnet is the way the poem's 14 lines are grouped. Rather than employ quatrains, the Petrarchan sonnet combines an octave (eight lines) with a sestet (six lines).<br><br><br><br> </div>]]></description>
