I used to think that the word 'certain' was used to describe something which one was completely sure of. However , now I think that there is a difference between the two terms; certain and absolutely certain. Absolutely certain seems to be holding a superior meaning for which there is absolutely no doubt. On the other hand, when we say that something is certain it is possible for there to be an exception/limitation.

I used to think that "absolute" was just an adjective and it didn't mean so much to the word it was describing. Now I think that there is an obvious difference when you add the word "absolute" in front of a word, especially the word "certain", as there is a world of difference in terms of the degree of the words. "Absolutely certain" implies that the person is 100% sure that his statement is the truth, but "certain" implies that the user thinks that his statement is correct, but not very sure.
