one reason how external circumstance helped stalin was that lenijs testament was not released to the public. in the testament, lenij wrote that he wanted stalin to be remived from his position as the sec-gen as he felt that stalin was too rude and stated that trotsky was his preferres successors. the senior politicians decided not to release it to the puvlic as the testament also criticised other potential succesors and leaders in the party. the leaders also felt that there was no need to remive stalin as they felt that trotsky was a bigger threat. thus the non disclosure of lenins testament worked in stalins favour as if it had been read out, stalin would most likely be remobved from his position as sec-gen and would no long be able to use it to manipulate his way to power....

Lenin's testament was not revealed. Lenin had urged that Stalin was to be removed from the position of being the Secretary-General, and also said that Trotsky was his preferred successor. However, Lenin's testament was kept a secret as it criticised other leaders in the party. This then allowed Staljn to appear close to Lenin and appear as Lenin's natural successor, helping Stalin to gain more support from the russian people and become the supreme leader of the Soviet Union.
Trotsky's unpopularity also helped Stalin rise to power. Trotsky was the leader of the Red Army and seen as the most likely candidate to take over from Lenin. However, Trotsky was arrogant and disagreed with Lenin's New Economy Policy and also disagreed with Stalin's Socialism Revolution and instead, he supported Worldwide Revolution. This made more people think that Trotsky was unloyal, and thus, willing to side with Stalin to get rud of Trotsky. Hence, Trotsky's unpopularity helped Stalin to rise to power.

Lenin’s final testament helped Stalin to become the supreme leader of Russia. When Lenin fell ill and went into semi-retirement in 1922, hr made his views known in his Testament before his death. In this Testament, he voiced out criticisms on his successors and clearly advised Stalin’s removal of his position. When, the Testament was revealed to the potential successors, they all agreed not to share it to the public as it included criticisms of them. Consequently, the Testament helped Stalin retain his position as Secretary-General, which he utilized effectively during his rise to power.

Another external circumstance is Trotsky’s unpopularity in the Politburo. Trotsky was one of the strongest obstacles that Stalin faced in his plan as Lenin’s successor. Before Lenin’s death, Trotsky was regarded as Lenin’s right-hand man and Trotsky held position as leader of the Red Army. His leadership was further elevated when he was recognized for his victory in the civil war. Thus, Trotsky was seen has the biggest threat by other members and this made him very unpopular.

One of the external circumstances that helped Stalin to become the supreme leader of the Soviet Union was Trotsky’s unpopularity in the Politburo. Trotsky, as Lenin’s right-hand man and head of the Red Army, was one of Stalin’s strongest competitors. As such, he was seen as the biggest threat by others in the Politburo and became their target in order to succeed Lenin. However, he was too outspoken as he disagreed with Lenin’s New Economic Policy. Thus, his opponents seized his criticisms as opportunities to attack him. As a result, Trotsky was seen as disloyal to Lenin and the Party. He also disagreed with Stalin’s Socialism in One Country which many of the proletariat were opposed to. Therefore, people were more willing to side with Stalin instead of Trotsky and so Stalin was able to succeed

Trotsky was the leader of the red army and hence was seen as the most likely candidate to take over Lenin’s position. But people viewed him as an arrogant person because he disagreed with Lenin’s New Economy Policy which he isn’t supposed to be against as he’s most likely taking over Lenin, and instead of supporting lenin he was against him. And also he was against Stalin plan of socialism in one country and supported worldwide revolution instead, when the people aren’t living in good condition .Hence this made more people willing to side with Stalin to get rid of trotsky as the people didn’t like trotsky

Trotsky was unpopular amongst the proletariat. He posed as a main threat to other potential successors. Being the head of the Red Army, he was greatly supported by soldiers and was known for being intelligent. Despite this, he was also arrogant, and argued against Lenin on several occasions. Although he still trusted him, others saw Trotsky's actions as an act of disloyalty towards Lenin. As such, Stalin seized the opportunity to manipulate the public's view of Trotsky, and tricked Trotsky into missing Lenin's funeral by giving him the wrong date. This furthered tarnished Trotsky's reputation, and many party members were angry with Trotsky's apparent lack of respect for Lenin when he failed to appear at the funeral. By manipulating the public's perception of Trotsky, Stalin lowered his chances to be a threat to other successors, thus contributing to his rise to power.

Lenin's final testament was not released to the public. Stalin was relieved by his decision, as this meant he could stay in power by being a Secretary-General, and manipulate others to see him as Lenin's successor, thus benefitting his rise to power.

One external circumstances that helped Stalin to become the supreme leader of the Soviet Union was that Lenin’s final testament was not released to the public. During that time, Lenin was severely ill, he was at a backwards and hence the country was facing a power vacuum. He knew that Stalin was rude and was suspicious about Stalin, he did not want him to become the leader of the Soviet Union. And hence in his testament, he said that he wanted trotsky to take over, he was worried that Stalin would abuse his power and even wanted to remove him a Secretary General. However, in his will, many of the other leader were criticised and so they decided not to release Lenin’s statements. Stalin was relieved as the public and other leaders would not have known about Lenin’s concerned about Stalin’s leadership in the future and continue to trust and support him. This without Lenin’s will which states his unhappiness about Stalin, Stalin could rise to power
Another external circumstance was that Trotskyist was unpopular. He was a threat to many leaders as not only was he intelligent but also arrogant. He had many arguments with Lenin about his political system and this made it seem like he challenged Lenin’s original ideas and Plans. But in reality he was just raising concerns. He was seemed as a radical. Hence showing that Trotsky was very much disloyal in peoples eyes. This his unpopularity and dislike form the leaders made Stalin rise to power and others would choose Stalin over lenin
