[Katherine] City Sprouts is a social enterprise that engages the community to partake in activities that promote sustainability. Their effort to draw in the elderly, youths at-risk and members of the physically-challenged in contributing to a green movement with knowledge and skills for a better future with food waste management (for instance) is similar to our effort to create a meaningful schooling experience for our students. The fruits of the effort can only be savored when they develop and ripen.

The paths are winding as to slow down one's pace while immersing in the walk to see the nature. Morning and evening walks will be great for relaxation.

From my experience at Enabling Village, I learnt that PWDs don’t want sympathy but they desire empathy, understanding, respect, and genuine connection.

It's not about seeing their limitations but about recognizing their potential and celebrating their achievements.

One key takeaway is the importance of fostering an inclusive mindset, not just in infrastructure but also in attitudes and interactions. Small efforts, such as being mindful of accessibility needs and using inclusive language, can make a big difference. We should show empathy by putting ourselves in their shoes to better understand their needs and not to be judgemental.

I witnessed how technology has transformed the lives of people with disabilities, empowering them to face daily challenges with greater independence. This visit reminded me of the power of inclusivity and how advancements in technology can create a more equitable society for all.

I am able to empathize the frustrations of people with disabilities. Lately, I had a fall that caused injuries to my knee cap and I have to walk with a walking stick when climbing up the stairs. Most of the time even when in a hurry for time, I still have to look for the nearest slope to walk instead of steps. Its very frustrating and time consuming.

I am greatly encouraged by our guide yesterday. Despite of his disabilities , he never gives up and he uses the latest technology to help him to get on with his life.

Lastly. I want to specially thank two of my colleagues, Shue Li and Timothy. Both of them have made this learning journey at the Enabling Village possible for me.

I will support and buy local vegetables after this learning journey. We saw firsthand that being a farmer in Singapore is not easy, and we also realized that food security is something we can contribute to.

Additionally, it was amusing to learn about black soldier flies. The guide explained that baby black soldier flies move faster in response to vibrations. We cheered for them, thinking our cheers made them move—only to realize that wasn’t the case! Still, it was a fun and exciting experience to joke about this discovery.
