When describing the revolution of the earth in relation to the sun - The sun is stationary at the center of the solar system and the earth moves, while spinning, around it it with the other planets. In other words, it takes about 365 days for the earth to travel back to its original spot. If you pick on spot on the earth, like your home, we can watch the seasons change slowly over the year as the earth moves close to and away from the sun.
