'Lakshmi.......................................daughter.' This passage shows the class division and inequality of the olden times. I was touched to see that people actually thought they would get sick and die if they touched something that a dalit did. I was also touched to see that the brahmins would actually beat up such an poor innocent child who was just trying to bring happiness into himself and other people. The language used for this passage is a very harsh type of descriptive language. The line "This ... this filthy animal dared to give a disgusting toilet necklace to my daughter! " helped me identify this harsh language

This shows inequality because Untouchables were considered dirty, unclean and filthy.

The part I have made a connection with is in Chapter 25, Page 228, all passages, when Anjali hears an angry shout, and sees that Mohan is being beaten up so rushes to stop everyone but he (kind of) abandons her by leaving town and tells her - "Call us what we are. You're not changing the world. It wont stop another Untouchable from dying of a fever. Accept it. Nothing will change."
My connection is text to self.
Once, when two people were fighting verbally, I asked them to stop. One agreed while the other started ignoring me after.
This shows inequality because Mohan was being beaten up for giving a necklace to Suman, because he was an Untouchable.
