Ethiopia has kept free of Imperialist powers. They exploited Italy for weapons and then kept the Italians out of their country using said weapons. They were of course affected culturally, since they were partners with Italy for a while and some European colonists who were left at Africa likely came and settled in Ethiopia. The destruction of the resources of their next door neighbors by the European Colonies also likely didn’t help with trade and economic success.
