Early in my career I was a "Remedial Teacher" for about 12 years. I also taught pupils in a special class (Specific Speech and Language Difficulty) for another 12 or so years. For the past 14 years I have been an Admin Deputy Principal (our school has 60 teachers). Since Sept 1st I have been Acting Principal - hence my slow start getting to grips with the IT aspect of this course. Good news is that I am retiring in a few weeks. I have always been fascinated with teaching reading and often question the "official" approaches. This is my fourth year in SET, I love it! I am working with three 3rd classes this year. Previously, I taught for 5 years in a MGLD special school in Galway. Before I started in this school, I was teaching in a mainstream primary school as a class teacher in London.

I enjoy all things SEN and in the last few years I have been very interested in how to best support children who experience literacy difficulties. I'm looking forward to learning more about working memory and it's relationship with dyslexia.
