Example: Facebook

For example, Facebook, although a more outdated platform, has the option to make private groups devoted to a topic. Teachers could make Facebook groups for parents and/or students to join and post on. These groups offer a private network where teachers can monitor collaboration. On the other hand, requiring students to create a Facebook account could be problematic. Facebook is a platform that has been heavily scrutinized for its security issues and for selling people's personal data. Additionally, Facebook users tend to be older. Having elementary students on this app may violate Facebook's terms and conditions as well as make parents feel uncomforatble.
