         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>26th US President</strong></div><div><strong>1901 - 1909</strong></div><ul><li>Boisterous outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, hiking, and various sports.  </li></ul><div><br><strong>Square Deal</strong><br>Roosevelt's reforms for business became known as the Square Deal and advocated for regulating big business and protecting workers and consumers.<br><br><strong>Trustbusting</strong><br>Roosevelt was an aggressive user of the Sherman Antitrust act of 1890, giving him the nickname "The Trustbuster" He regulated monopolies such as Rockefeller's Standard Oil and the Northern Securities Company.</div><div><br><strong>Environment</strong><br>Roosevelt established 50 wildlife refuges, 18 national monuments, and the US Forestry Service.</div><ul><li><strong>Antiquities Act</strong></li></ul><div>Protected Native American lands and artifacts, prevented development or destruction of these lands.</div><div><br><br><strong>Meat</strong><br>Pushed Congress to pass the Meat Inspection Act of 1906 which regulated meat production and banned use of harmful chemicals and misleading labels.<strong><br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>28th US President <br>1913 - 1921</strong></div><ul><li>Emotionally complex, but commanding of loyalty, Wilson rallied not just the white house, but the entire democratic party to his side.</li></ul><div><br></div><div><br><strong>Economy<br></strong>Wilson made extensive economic reforms, lowering tariffs, establishing the Federal Reserve, and extending limits of big businesses.<br><br><strong>World War One<br></strong>Wilson said that America had the role of making the world safe for democracy, encouraging moralistic foreign policy.<br><br><strong>League of Nations<br></strong>Woodrow attempted to found a league of nations in 1919 to prevent future wars, but republicans in control of the house shot the effort down.</div><div><strong><br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>27th US President<br>1904 - 1913</strong></div><ul><li>Described as jovial and conscientious, this hefty fella was a whopping 330 pounds. </li></ul><div><br><br><strong>Big Business<br></strong>Taft aimed to eliminate as many trusts as he could manage during his presidency. Filing over 90 anti-trust reports, he made his support of small businesses abundantly clear.<br><br><strong>Economy<br></strong>Taft advocated for american bankers to invest overseas, funding projects in other countries to better their relations.<br><br><strong>Environment</strong><br>Taft also helped to protect wildlife, expanding national forest reserves and establishing more national parks.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
