Du Bois believed that African Americans should make a place for themselves in positions of high power and not limit their capabilities. Washington believed just the opposite, he believed that African Americans should make due with the skills they have now and not seek positions of authority or those they lack the education to have. Washington on the other hand with his speech "Atlanta Compromise Speech" where he talked about the "loyalty" that African Americans had towards their owners which in reality, they had no other choice but he was trying to convince Whites to make it seem they did it out of their own willingness. Du Bois sees the White Americans as racists and wants to completely get rid of all the separation and racism through the power of Liberty so there can be a point of equality
On the other hand, Washington does not care about the equality but saw that the jobs African Americans had were not good enough. He wants better jobs and higher pay.
