Tenar. This really got Tenar to reconsider and see who she really was, “I am Tenar,” she said…'' This change from becoming less Arha and more Tenar she becomes more unfaithful and goes against rules she strictly followed. Like leaving Ged alive in the treasure room. Where no one except Arha was allowed to be in. This relates to when we realise or we are shown something that contradicts our thinking that we once previously had, and yet we agree with it and see how it was better than what we originally thought of. Yet it takes a lot to rethink our beliefs, we have to accept that our original thinking was incorrect, that we were wrong. That what we were doing was wrong. And it’s hard to come to terms with that. But I do think it’s worth changing our thinking. If we see something else as more correct and better for us we should strive to understand it and try to accept it as our own new way of thinking.

And what identity is truly ours from what identity we are forced to have. This shows through the symbols of light and dark. Dark represents an eerie comfort not fully embraced, and light represents a bit of an unknown to Arha but something that's true to Tenar. These symbols help to represent the clash we have within ourselves to find who we really are, truly. And the The Tombs of Atuan  also tells us that we don’t have to find who are alone. We can have others to help us find who we truly are. Like Ged, who was able to find Arha’s real name. Tenar. I feel like myself who I really am is in a labyrinth, in a maze of other things I could be. And it’s just a small beacon of light in a vast amount of darkness and uncertainty. The themes of identity really relate to me as I and everyone else my age is growing up and getting closer and closer to where we have decided what we want to be and what we want to do with our short life. So the struggle with thinking what you should be, who you really are, relates to me.
