Wind power is being recognized as a means of valuable renewable energy generation and a way to pave future power. However, there may be some implications this new way of power can have when used in a more widespread fashion. In a study done by Jones (2011) they found that more than 100 complaints were reported from citizens living in Northampton about the plans to construct wind turbines in their rural area. These complaints emphasize the necessity of avoiding visual pollution in an area to maintain its natural beauty. The cost and materials required for one wind turbine can be a cause for concern. The construction of one wind turbine requires more than 2000 metres of electric cables (Ellis and Gore,2016). It was also reported that several species of birds had their habitats permanently destroyed for the construction of a wind farm in Scotland in 2007 (Reid and Adams,2012). These factors evidently prove that the construction of wind turbines should be met with caution.

Although there are many benefits for wind power generation, there are a few negative results for generating them. One of the main problems is how the electricity cables are shared from one wind turbine; as Ellis and Gore (2016) mentioned, more than 2,000 metres of the electric cord should accommodate the power distribution. As a result, tools and money will be wasted. Furthermore, wind power generation can affect humans and other wildlife creatures. Jones (2011) points out that, surprisingly, after the plans to build wind turbines were released to the public in early 2010, over 100 local citizens in the countryside in Northampton complaint about it. Also, sadly in Scotland in 2007, nesting areas of numerous bird species were disturbed and permanently destroyed during the construction of a wind farm (Reid and Adams, 2012). Given these drawbacks, generating wind power needs to be done with all the outcomes considered.

Wind power generation is one of the cleanest, low-carbon methods used to generate electricity, but it does come at a cost. According to Jones (2011), when plans to build wind turbines in a rural area in Northampton were made public a plethora of complaints were received from the locals as turbines have a huge visual impact. It is not just aesthetic pollution that should be concerning, (Ellis and Gore,2016) state that over 2 km of electric cables are required in order to accommodate the power distribution from a single wind turbine. This can have a negative effect on the habitat of animals in that area as seen in Scotland in 2007 when nesting areas of numerous bird species were disrupted and destroyed during the construction of a wind farm (Reid and Adams,2012). It is clear that wind turbines can possibly have an adverse effect on the environment.

In recent times the impact of climate change has necessitated a change in lifestyle, one of these changes includes a shift to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydro electric power generation. Unfortunately these sources are accompanied by drawbacks making their implementation difficult. A common issue faced with wind power generation is the visual impact it has on the surrounding area as the structures can be at least 90 metres tall and visible from a long distance away. According to Jones (2011) over 100 complaints were filed by the residents of a rural area in Northampton when the intent to construct wind turbines in the area were publicized. Furthermore, the erection of wind turbines would affect the immediate ecosystem harming the wildlife in the area. Research conducted by Reid and Adams (2012) shows that in 2007 during the construction of a wind farm in Scotland the nesting areas of several birds were disturbed and permanently destroyed. The implementation of a renewable energy source such as wind power would also require a costly investment into revamping or replacing the current infrastructure to support the surplus power generated and transport it to where it is needed. A minimum of 2000 metres of electric cable is necessary to distribute power from one wind turbine (Ellis and Gore, 2016). Although a shift to renewable energy sources is desirable to help sustain human life on earth it requires a significant amount of investment and the support of the beneficiaries in the long term.

Wind energy has been one of the most prominently used renewable resources during the last century (Bowers 2020) the disadvantages have also become more apparent. Considering the plenty placements of wind harvesting facilities in natural habitats. Wind turbines may be dangerous to flying animals. Many birds and bats have been killed by flying into the rotors. Experts are now conducting research to learn more about the effects that wind turbines have on marine habitats. Particularly in Scotland a research conducted by Reid and Adams (2012) showcases that nesting areas of numerous bird species were disturbed and permanently destroyed during the construction of a wind farm in 2007. constructively renewable energy has been in large demand for the fact that it is a better alternative than non-renewable sources and less harmful. However the misplacement of wind farms is starting mutilate the species-richness of habitats.

As the world is heading towards greener alternatives for electricity generation, wind powered electricity has gained tremendous popularity, it also comes with its drawbacks ranging from public disinterest to impact on wildlife. Jones (2011), states there was a major backlash from the local residents of Northampton, in the form of over 100 complaints, when the plans to build wind turbines were made public. The backlash suggests that installing wind turbines comes with the cost of ruining the natural beauty of the landscape which the public isn’t happy with. To distribute electricity form one wind turbine more than 2000 meters of electric cable is required (Ellis and Gore, 2016), this makes installing a wind turbine non economical and particularly resource demanding. Another drawback to wind turbines is the impact it has on wildlife, nesting areas of several bird species were disturbed and permanently destroyed during the construction of a wind farm in Scotland (Reid and Adam, 2012). It does not seem right when aiming for a greener future comes with having to destroy wildlife.

Wind energy, like all other energy sources, has its own set of benefits and drawbacks. According to Jones (2011), over 100 complaints were received from local residents after the plans to build wind turbines in a rural area in Northampton were made public in early 2010. For instance, nesting areas of numerous bird species were disturbed and permanently destroyed during the construction of a wind farm in Scotland in 2007 (Reid and Adams, 2012). Obviously, Wind plants can impact local wildlife really badly. Therefore, although wind turbines have relatively little impact on the environment compared to other energy sources, concerns are still there.
