1)You multiply decimals because we will need it for shopping or money gas etc. Like if the gas price is 2.27 a gallon and my car can hold 15 gallons I would multiply 2.27 * 15.

2) To multiply decimals you just do the same you would do if it was a whole number but, like with adding and subtracting you have to line up the decimals then start multiplying. If I have 2.27 * 15 I would l would put a decimal after 15 and then line up my decimal points. Now I would do 5 * .07, 5* .2, and 5 * 2 and add them up to get 11.35. Now I do 10 * 2.27 And get 22.7. Now I add up my Quotients and get 34.05.

1)You round decimals to make it easier to work with them for anything like shopping, job, etc.

2)To round decimals you would pick the place value to round, to then go to the place value to the right of the number, and if the digit is lower than five you would keep the number the same but get rid of any numbers to the right of the number that is being rounded. If the number is 5 or higher you add one to the number being rounded and get rid of all numbers to the right.

1)You compare and order decimals to find out which is the greater or less number. Example is when your in the middle of two places that sell gas and you want to find the cheaper price.Your looking for the lower number in this situation.

2) To compare and order decimals you are looking at the whole number and if the whole numbers are the same look at the tenths place keep going until there is a difference,if there is no difference the numbers are equal.

1)You add and subtract decimals because you need it for every thing like shopping, measuring or etc. In a real life situation you would need to add decimals to get the perimeter of a picture or a frame.

2)To add or subtract decimals you line up the decimals then do your addition or subtraction like usual. so if i have 1.2 + 15.3 I would line up the decimal points and add. .3+ .2 =.5. 1 + 15 = 16. So my total is 16.5.

Dividing Decimals

1) You divide decimals because you would use it to find out lots of things. For example gas mileage or how much you can save on groceries, or if you're going to be a teacher you need to know how to teach decimals.

2)when you divide decimals you can't have a decimal in the divisor. So you have to times it by powers of ten to get the decimal out,but you also have to maintain an equality. So if I have 9.315 / 3.45 I multiply 3.45 by 10 to the power of 2 then it will be 345, but I also have to maintain an equality. So 9.315 turns into 931.5 because I multiplied by 10 to the power of 2, so now we can do the problem. 345 goes into 931 20 times and we get 690. 931 - 690 = 241, 345 does not go into 241 so put an 0. pull down the .5 and you should have 241.5. 345 goes into 241.5 .7 times and you get 20.7.
