Purpose of Ibadah: Hikmah The meaning of hikmah in Islam is

"righteous wisdom", but it it isn't limited to just intelligence or knowledge. Hikmah is also the ability to apply the knowledege we gain in real life scenarios in accordance with Islamic

principles. To put simply, hikmah is the acquisition of knowledge, the ability to think and act judiciously, and the spiritual insight to understand and implement Allah's teachings in every aspect of life.

Reasons of Hikmah in

Ibadah

1. Worshipping Goals:

• Ibadah serves as a means to connect with Alläh (God). The purpose for all acts of worship is to strengthen the link to the Creator. It is not simply about rituals. rather, it is about knowing that these rituals are meant to assist you in coming closer to Allah.

2. Evolving Spiritually:

• Worships like Salah (prayer),

Sawm (fasting), Zakah (charity), and Hajj (pilgrimage) encourage purification of the soul and encourage the individual to act righteously.

The hikmah emerges from the humility, gratitude, patience, and self-discipline that these acts instill in our hearts. As an example, the practice of fasting can help bring about sympathy in our hearts for the poor, and teaches us to be more grateful for what Allah SWT's granted to us.

3. Heart Purification:

• The reason behind worship should be that of purifying one's heart. Acts of Ibadah help us learn ways of refraining from worldly pursuits not beneficial to our journey to become better Muslims. Worldy desires are only mere distractions, where instead only contentment and peace can only be obtained instead only contentment and peace can only be obtained through the submission to

Allah's will.

4. Deliberate & Thoughtful

Worship:

• Worship is best done when deliberate, thoughtful, and intentional. Actual worship is not simply for the sake of formality. Each act, such as praying and give out charity, should prompt and encourage reflection. Thus, it could lead us Muslims to grow and prosper as better people.

Preparation for Salah with Khusyuk

Although khusyuk isn't mandatory for our prayers to be accepted by Allah SWT, it ensures that our prayers are aligned with proper intentions and comes from the bottom of our hearts as creations of Allah SWT.

• Mental preparations for khusyuk

1. Before salah, when reciting its niyyah, take it to heart and remind ourselves that we are standing before Allah SWT when pray. Set a sincere intention to put our minds into focus.

2. During prayers, proper recitations isn't the only thing we should be looking for but also proper understanding about what we're reciting. Look up the meanings for the prayers we recite during salah, therefore instilling a deeper connection between our hearts and Allah SWT.

• Preparing our environment for khusyuk

1. A clean place for prayers also means a clean mind during prayers. This minimizes distractions, and not to mention cleanliness is also a favored trait in humans by Allah S.W.T.

2. Wearing clean clothes during prayers is sunnah, especially when we take into consideration that we

are standing before our Creator. Surely, it is important to look our best when we face Allah SWT for our sins and shortcomings.

Virtues in Salah with Khusyuk

Khusyuk leads to a better salah that is worthy of praise.
When our focus is heightened during salah with khusyuk, our minds are instilled with proper intentions of salah which is for the mercy of Allah SWT.

Khusyuk during salah also brings blessings to our lives now and for the Hereafter.
With khusyuk, we better understand as Muslims the prayers we recite and the benefits we get from doing so is plenty. Our hearts will become free from tension, turning us into optimists as with khusyuk during salah we properly believe that we are in the best care of Allah SWT.

3. Khusyuk ensures our salah will be accepted by Allah SWT, as prayers without proper focus means the prayer is empty of intentions and emotions. That leads to a prayer that is riddled with disbelief, and the person conducting the prayer then is a Kafir even after reciting praises to Allah SWT in their salah.

Aside from holding our hunger back before sunset, fasting teaches us to suppress our nafs' (desire) in the case of lust when we lower our gazes towards non-mahram, greed when we eat according to our needs instead of cravings and so on.

Fasting also instills takrim into ourselves (honor/respect).
Fasting teaches us to become more respectful towards other people when we also suppress our anger and also towards women when we lower our gazes towards them.

Fasting brings rahmah (mercy).
