It was founded and opened on August 13, 1904, as a German/Luxembourger parish, located in Edgewater, Andersonville, and Uptown neighborhoods. After 25 years, the Church was remodeled in 1929, and is now the present version of the Church that stands today. The Church is active in immigrant advocacy and supporting the LGBTQ community. Another interesting thing is that they reach out to those who are homeless.

The Ebenzer Lutheran Church was established in 1892, serving as a religious and social hub with the Swedish community in Andersonville. The limestone church was completed by a local Swedish architect, Andrew Norman. The church continues to evolve by carrying the Swedish religious tradition as well as celebrating St. Lucia's day, which is called the festival of light. It's celebrated all over Sweden, and also celebrated at Ebenzer Lutheran Church.
