Pipe Cleaner Skeleton

You will need:

White pipe cleaners
Wool to hang

Instructions:

Cut a pipe cleaner in half. Put one half to one side, and keep the other as the spine.

Take another pipe cleaner, and cut it so that it is roughly two
thirds and one third. Bend the long piece in half, and twist the middle
onto one end of the spine. Shape into the legs.

Take a third pipe cleaner, and again cut it so that it is roughly two
thirds and one third. Bend the long piece in half, and twist the middle
onto one the other end of the spine, shaping it to form the shoulders
and arms.

To make the ribs, twist one end of a pipe cleaner onto the spine just
below the arms. Shape it into a zigzag pattern and twist around the
spine to finish.

For the skull, cut another pipe cleaner so that it is roughly two
thirds and one third. Using the long piece, twist a small loop for the
mouth. Make another loop around the outside with a pointed top for the nose. Finally twist a loop around the outside.

Twist your spine onto your skull to join the whole thing up.

If you like, tie a piece of wool to the skull so you can hang your skeleton.

Ribbon (optional)
Fabric glue
Pair of wiggle eyes
Toy stuffing

Instructions:

Cut 2 penguin body shapes from black felt using our penguin template to help.

If you plan on hanging the penguin, cut a length of ribbon and slip
the ends between the two felt bodies so the ribbon hangs from the top of the head.

Cut two feet from yellow felt and sandwich between the two bodies so they stick out from the bottom of the penguin.

With a small running stitch sew the bodies together, securing the
ribbon and feet in place. Leave a gap with which to stuff the penguin.

Fill the penguin with toy stuffing. Be careful not to overfill. The penguin should sit fairly flattish. Sew the gap closed.

Glue on the eyes. Cut and glue on a beak. For the tummy, cut a yellow
felt oval and glue on to the tummy. Cut a smaller white oval and glue
this on top of the yellow.

Sheet of craft foam Foam stickers Photo (or drawing) Sheet of card Ribbon to hang PVA (white) glue
Instructions:

Cut out a rectangle of craft foam a bit bigger than your picture.
Fold the foam in half and cut out a rectangle in the middle, leaving you
with a frame about 3cm wide.
Decorate the frame with foam stickers. Try and make the frame match
the picture. We decorated white circles to look like soccer balls, but
you could do baseball, basketball or rugby, or, if Dads a motoring
enthusiast, cars or wheels.

Glue the picture to the back of the frame. Glue a loop of ribbon to
the top. Cut the card to the size of your frame and glue it to the back.

Father's Day Tie Painting

You will need:

Large sheet of construction paper for the backing

Large sheet of white paper for the tie
Paints and paintbrush
Instructions:

Cut out a tie shape using our photo above as a guide. You could do
this for younger children, or suggest older kids practise drawing a
shape in pencil and then cutting out themselves.

Paint the tie in Dad's favourite colours! Try stripes, spots, zigzags, or something more intricate.

Use glue or sticky dots to mount to the backing paper. Alternatively, write a message on the back and forget the backing!

filter papers. Let dry (you can speed things up by drying out in the
oven on a very low heat for a few minutes).

Trim two of the filter papers so you have three different sizes. See photo below.
Fit the smaller two papers inside the largest. Open out into a cone
shape and twist the bottom to form a point. Wrap the chenille stem
around this to hold the papers together. Leave the other end of the
chenille stem loose to be the flower stem.
The video is some different than the explanation:

Talk about the meaning of Children's Day
Tell the children that Children's Day celebrates the fact that each
one of them is unique and special. Let them know that they are
important. Tell them that Children's Day is a day to do fun activities
with their families. Ask them questions such as ‘what is the best thing
about being a child?' and ‘what would you like to do on Children's Day?'
and ‘what do you like doing best with your family?'

Family photo collage
Send a note home to the parents at least one week before you plan to
begin. Ask the parents to help their children put together a poster or a
collage of family photos for the children to share with the class. Have
each child return their poster or collage to school on a different day
to share with the class. Each child gets to stand up in front of the
class and talk about their photos. They can answer any questions that
the other children might have after sharing their information.
