Rune had left for Olso for two years. When Poppy never replied, it broke him, they had been best friends since 8 years old and started dating at 8. Poppy was fatally sick when she turned 15 and cut Rune off while he was across the world. This caused lots of effects because all you knew is she had a few months left to live, and that Rune would eventually come back, but no clue when. Poppy could die, and she didn't want Rune to worry about her. It made me feel awful knowing how much it hurts to be cut off from someone you love. This caused multiple problems in the future because it led to future grief, and fear of loosing your best friend.

Rune loves to take pictures of Poppy when she is caught off guard. He does it because he is so in love he wants their kids to see the beauty of their mother. Their relationship was the kind that every young teen in love wants (if they have the mindset of old time love). He tries to savor the moments with her. They were both very quiet people who have a lot to say, but say it with their actions. And that is why I chose this picture. It says it all. After Poppy left, Rune stopped taking pictures in general which mentally wrecked him even more.

Rune and poppy live across the street from each other. They have been next door neighbors since they were 8. This played a big role in the book because if they weren't neighbors they would not be as close as they were. He would sneak into her bedroom window, hang out with her, and she would even go into his bed room window ever since they were 12. Doing that led up to a more physical relationship after Rune one time fell asleep in Poppy's bed one night. This picture is from Poppy's perspective of Rune's house.

Ever since Rune and Poppy were little, the would always meet at the cherry blossom tree in the park by their house. It was their safe place. During the spring, Rune would take pictures of Poppy, dance together, and pick the pedals off the trees, that was until he left. Two 17 year olds are in love and their time is being cut short. Poppy wants to see the spring time one last time before she slips away to be with her grandma for eternity. Rune knows he will see her once again, but he doesn't have strong faith like Poppy. Poppy keeps him calm during this last upcoming spring by talking to him telling him that we will be together forever in heaven, you just have to be patient with God's plan.

JUST TELL ME POPPY, TELL ME!

After Rune got back from Oslo, and Poppy cut him off, he saw her again and wanted to make her jealous and act like he moved on. He acted like he kissed another girl, knowing they made a promise at 8 during their first kiss saying that their lips belong to one another. He didn't actually kiss her though. When the argument started getting heated, Rune wanted an answer of why she stopped talking to him and that is when Poppy told him she was dying and only had a few months left. Rune ran, until that night he crawled into her window and laid down beside her where they fell asleep together. He wanted to savor the moment and so did she, so she wrote their kiss they shared on her paper and put it in her jar, and he wrote a mental note of everything he felt.

Rune isn't your average 17 year old boy. From 8-15 he was the nicest, kindest, and most quiet mysterious boy you will ever meet. That all changed when Poppy left him on delivered for 2 years. He started partying, drinking, smoking, cussing, and being disrespectful to everyone. He blamed his dad every day for taking him away from Poppy. He hated him for it, and his mother could do nothing. Rune loved taking pictures, going to the cherry blossom tree, and being outside with Poppy but slowly watching the sunrise with poppy when she was there turned into crawling into bed at sunrise. Poppy was the other half of his heart, without her, one side of a heart cannot work by itself.

Poppy is a kind soul. If she were a song she would be Roslyn from the movies Twilight. She always wants to find joy in small things. Poppy is quiet but she is very outgoing, caring, thoughtful, and respectful. She never wants to do anything bad, but ever since that night with Rune when they were 15, the night before he left, as she would say, it was wonderful. Her innocence was gone but she never stopped smiling, she never stopped caring about others, and she just wanted everyone to find joy. Poppy thought that every little detail in nature was beautiful, even down to a tear on a leaf. She was a nature girly, who loved school, and loved her best friend Rune.

If I had to choose my favorite book of 2024, this would be the first thing coming out of my mouth. This book made me feel alive, and different at the same time. Different meaning that I felt like I could get lost in the book forever and just imagine how Poppy and Rune are living. I stepped out of my comfort zone a little while ago with reading, and I'm so glad I did. Taking that step led me to you, Tillie Cole, an amazing writer. This book showed up on my BookTok feed and even pintrest. I knew as soon as I saw the cover and heard reviews it was calling my name. I do not regret the hours spent reading this book. Every second of my time that I was not busy was put toward this book. Thank you for drawing in young readers, especially me, it has helped me realize that I should not just settle for an average boy who doesn't treat me right. I know my worth, and have high standards thanks to your book and I am proud to say that. So, thank you Tillie, for changing my life.

I am giving this book a 5/5. I loved the plot, and this book also taught me a lot about having self worth. It doesn't talk about self worth or having high standards in the book but that is what I took away. I learned not to settle for average and find a guy who would go to the ends of the earth for me. This was the most heart-warming, and sad book I have ever read but overall an amazing read. If I could talk about this book all day long I would. It is truly a wonder to read. I got lost in the book and felt like I was truly living their lives.

Poppy is fatally sick and she is dying. Poppy was put in a coma for a week and lost a lot of mobility in her legs. Rune was with her the whole time and never left her side. She almost died but Rune never gave up home and helped her the whole time. Most of her time after the 2 years was spent in the hospital because the doctors needed to make sure she was doing okay. Poppy hated the hospital, she wanted to be outside always.

Rune and Poppy shared one last kiss on the beach before it was her time to go. Rune never lost hope and knows that there will always be 4 footprints in the sand. Rune loved her forever and so did Poppy. The beach was their place, the place they loved dearly. It was theirs, theirs forever, even in the stars and in the Blossom Grove.

Rune wished for one last kiss under the stars with Poppy. But little did he know she was there in his arms the whole time. On the beach, and in the stars. Rune was devastated but came to peace with the fact that Poppy was gone. Poppy told Rune to live life like I am always there, walking with him forever. She asked him to promise her that he would live life but also keep her in his memories. He promised and if he messed one thing up, breaking that promise wouldn't be one.

Poppy loved Rune and wanted to savor every moment with him. This happened while they were in New York for 2 days to spend their last moment together. After they had the night together, Rune woke up and went outside to cry. He couldn't bear the thought of losing Poppy. He loved her too much. Poppy didn't know how to help, she just sat there in his arms. She couldn't stand to see her loved one, her most dearest, cry and fear the thought of loosing her.

I observed a lot of themes in this book. The author believed that love will last forever, even through death. When poppy passed away, Rune never stopped loving her. He couldn't stop. He cared for his little brother who wanted to grow up to be just like Him. His little brother wanted a girl like Poppy, and wanted to love a girl like how Rune loved Poppy. He wanted Rune and Poppy's relationship. Rune wanted his little brother to grow up to be like him and maybe his outcome would be a little different.
