Magnus along with his companions walked into a small place to have their lunch and then get going with their expedition to find the sword. While they were waiting for their food, a pigeon who later turned into an eagle flew onto their table. He exclaimed that he would tell them where the Sword can be found as long as he would get something in return. Hearing this, Magnus knew something was up so he refused to go along with such conditions. They soon ealized that the eagle was a giant who had transformed himself. After the gial heard this, he was upset. He refused to set the owner of the restraunt free unless Magnus had agreed. Once he didnt get his way, he said "okay then" The eagle squawked, "we can play it that way". This was important as the reader soon realized all the eagle wanted was his way. And he was not as nice as he disguised himself to be. He would now be doing anything needed to get his way. This further effects the plot as Magnus soon decides to swear to the gods to help him or he was about to die (yet again). Now hes made a vow. If he does not fulfill it, he will burst into flames.

The type of fiuartive language the author used in this case is idiom. I know this because the author implied how she stopped in a way resembling how when somethings frozen it doesnt move. It emphasizes the way Sam had come to a hault. By using this the author avoided making the book boring and bland. It makes the book more entertaining to read. this also helps us understand the character more as the readers realize that Sam was surprised with what had happened in this scene. This might help readers predict why she was as surprised.

A lot of the characters personality shone through in this dialogue. In this scene, Magus needed to find a way to go to the Sea Monster to find the sword and give the Giant the apple of immortality so he wouldn't burst into flames. Through this dialogue readers can infer that Magnus is courageous and ambitious. He's willing to take the risk to see where the path might lead. It can also be inferred that his curiosity might put him down in the wrong road in the future. There's a small window for the plot and can be inferred that something was going to go terribly wrong as the the plan was most likely flawed and extremely dangerous.

This is because the the girl described how she was being labeled because of where shes from and hers skin color as well as her accent. By adding this o the story the author gave a better idea on what it was like for the character in the book to be classified in an unfair way. She felt like she was "less that" others who were white and would perfectly fit in the American society. the reader gets a feel of what its like being in the main characters shoes. This also informs the readers of how people would make assumption because of something which is not as common.

On page 3 the narrator used the phrase "I got used to the question, asked seemingly but casually with a gimlet eye,"are you here legally" ". This shows how people judged other by their looks. This quote was on page 1 said by the narrator Magnus Chase. this was a great way to start off with the book as it works as a hook for the readers. It catches the readers attention as it mentions how the story takes place after the character had died. Some might find this an amusing story to read about and continue to read. In a way this was the beginning of the end. This specific statement also shows what the main character of the book is like. Magnus's humor is exposed as jokes about how his life had surprisingly gone downhill after he had gotten himself killed. It also lets the reader know things like the point of view and genre just but reading the first few sentences. People often have a preference and by doing this the author made it easy for them to know.

This is because the memory she had ended up recalling was disturbing and something she didn't expect. The denotation of sulk is being irritated or angry in a manner.

In the beginning of the book Mara woke up tied down to a hospital bed. She couldn't move her body s her limbs were numb. Dr. Kells had come into her room to run more tests causing her pain. She told her that Noah was dead and that Mara was the one who killed him. But she soon realized that she couldn't scream or even cry in pain. It seemed like she was simply emotionless. After a split second after everything blacked out, ,she regained consciousness and found Wayne whimpering on the floor grabbing onto something. The took it and played the recording. It was Jude. He told her how to escape from the building and that Noah was still alive and would be waiting for her. She tried to use her powers in order to kill Wayne as she needing his eyeball to access the file room. He abilty was not getting triggered so she felt a rush of courage and grabbed a knife from the table and slashed his throat. this scene says a lot about how Mara grew. She was done with all the lies. She knew she had to find Noah and get her friends out of there. If her abilities didn't work, she was willing to do anything to get back to him even if that meant killing 10 people. Shes dedicated and accepted her power. She knew who she was now and that she didnt need to be fixed. This shows a sense of improvement in herself.

Stella, Jamie and Mara went inside the locked room. As they stepped in they heard muffled voice. Mara ran ti see who it was and it was her brother tied down. She was filled with joy and finally explained the truth to him. He was astonished by what he was hearing and how everything that Mara said before was true. And it wasnt just her hallucinating. Mara though David was gonna call her crazy, instead he said he knew something was off. He had come all the way to New York to get more background information on Dr.Kells. After catching him up on what had happened while they were escaping the Hoizon(hospital where they were held captive) they began to search any files they could find. Someone had to be funding the center as well as Dr.Kells to run tests on getetic mutations. As they were searching they found files and tapes on other projects of hers. As they wtched the tapes and read through the files, they realized that Klls was also a carrier of this gene. She is inable to carry a baby which is why she started her journey to find a cure. She had fostered multiple kids, especially boys and tryed on different drugs and possible cures throughout the years. Every child had died.

Jamie, Stella and Mara had gone to get some groceries. While they were going inside the store they noticed two men hunched over a homeless woman. They rushed over to help her as she was gettinging separated from the only food she had at the moment. When Mara wanted to go up against the men they had said ¨whats a little girl like you gonna do. You´re useless.¨ This triggered Mara's ability and didn't end in a good way. With Jamie's ability to convince people to do anything he wants they took advantage of it. Jamie convinced them to walk into the middle of the train tracks. Stella begged Mara to make it stop but jamie made sure they stayed in the middle of the tracks. Mara was gonna let them die but Jamie count handled it so he brought them back up right before the train could hit them. When they got back up those noses bled as they became conscious of their surroundings again. In this scene you could tell a lot about how Mara had felt. She was mad and had wanted the men to suffer for what they had done. This gives the reader a glimpse of how her mindset is. She had no sense of mercy and would not care if she were the one to kill them

tella had soon realized how dangerous Mara was getting. The more she can control her power the more he can use it. An is always been to harm other people. Stella had exlaimed how she thought they were the good guys. And to that Marra responded ¨Who said we were the good guys?¨(pg. 302 Hawkins) At this point in the book Mara didnt bother to look back at the things that shes been doing. Mara knew that Stella was scared of her and didnt trust her anymore but she wasnt bothered. Soon enough Stella had left even though she didnt know where to go and Mara didnt stop her. This scene was important as the readers got an idea of how they had no plans on how to find Noah or what they were going to do in the future. the uncertainty of the future created a more intense mood in the book as the readers are more eager to know how they could pull off finding the person behind this and locate Noah.

As they were escaping Horizons Mara realized her period was late. She couldnt have been pregnant as she was still a virgin but Stella didn't believe her and made her take a test. It had come out negative. Mara was ill and would throw up almsot everyday but never knew what was wrong with her. She kept feeling something inside of her stomach. Whenever she would look in the mirror her reflection would talk back to her saying "get them out. You know its inside you, get them out" (pg. 200, Hawkins)From this scene readers knew that her reflection couldnt have been lying. Later in the book Mara finally got the thing out of her. They were two capsules filled with powdery substance. Dr. Kells had put them there to stop her powers from triggering. In the scene She was scared and frightened.
