I found alcohol to be a key theme in this movie as it seemed to represent suppression in a way. During Furious' speech, he mentions how there are liquor stores on every corner meant to keep black people "drugged down" in a way, rendering them highly susceptible to abuse.

Do the Right Thing has some interesting symbolism, the most obvious being the heat representing the rising racial tensions in the neighborhood. There was also the symbol of Buggin Out's shoes, which might represent how he feels Sal treats him (walked on)?

There is a similarity between daughters of the dust and get out. Both of them use color and costume to give insight about dynamics and messages in the film. The women in Daughters of the dust where different colors based on their level of commitment to the culture of the island. In this movie all of the guests including Rose are all wearing red, showing the separation between all of them and chris, singling him out.
