제복이가 바닷가에 흰눈이만 놓고 돌아섰다. 흰눈이가 따라왔다. 제복이는 뒤를 돌아 발로 땅을 구르며 겁을 줬다.
"따라오지마! 이제 여기가 네 집이라고. 바다로 가."
제복이도 흰눈이와 헤어지기 싫었다. 하지만 바다로 보내야했다. 흰눈이가 따라오지 못하도록 달음질을 했다. 어머니가 돌아가시고 흰눈이가 있어서 버틸 수 있었는데, 이젠 정말 아버지와 둘만 남게되었다.
