Ruth Bader Ginsburg, pioneer of equality

There isn't a lot I can say about Ruth that isn't already known but I will give the cliffnotes. As most know she gave a much needed standpoint on most matters when she was nominated for the Supreme court in 1993 by at that point president Bill Clinton. But she had already been making changes way back in the 70's, like in 1973 when she helped make it so women could sign a mortgage and make bank accounts without needing a male co-signer. This might seem absurd but back then women were seen as weaker and less intelligent by a lot of men, which is RBG stood up, she realized women needed a voice that could be heard. So over the years she did things like close the gap on wages between women and men at least more than had been seen in awhile, made it so any state-funded schools couldn't turn away people just because they were women, was a crucial part of helping women have a choice on things like abortions, and many more. She helped prove that women were strong, smart, and shouldn't be some lower class which truly changed social standpoint of women as a whole.

Mahbub Ul Haq, was truly a rare site in recent history. He was considered one of the few true economic free thinkers. Throughout the 1960s- 1990s he introduced new ideas for human development and the economy . One of the many ideas he gave was we shouldn't calculate development based solely on income/ earnings rather we should focus on the quality of living of individual people. His ideas were considered revolutionary and adopted by many activist groups. They caught the eye of south Asian countries in particular such as Pakistan. He helped settle the long conflict between India and Pakistan.

The Human Development Index

The Human development Index is a graph of sorta that helps puts the quality of living in a country into a grade. It does this by taking multiples factors into account to judge the country. The first of the factors is simply the quality of living, this would mean like if they are getting food and clean water with livable conditions. The second big factor is whether the citizens of the country are healthy and having long lives, average death and birth rates. The last factor they take into account is the amount of citizens with higher education, shows how available higher education like college or much less school in general is to the people

The Gender Inequality Index

The Gender Inequality Index is a graph detailing the major social and economic gap between men and women in every country. Same as the Human Development Index it takes into account major factors in deciding the final grade of each country. One of the first immediate factors would be reproductive health, which is represented by the birth rates of the country. This is a lot more important than some people think because there are still countries in this world where men see women as nothing more than care givers and the people that give birth sadly. The second factor is the empowerment that women have, this is simply just how much of a voice women have in their respective government. The last but not least factor is women's stance in the labor force for their country, this is more like if a good amount of jobs are being offered to/ held by women.
