Genetic Engineering Overview

GMO's help nearly everyone. They reduce environmental impact and help mass produce hormones like insulin for diabetics. They can be used to make bigger, nutritionally better food faster. They can also reduce food waste and environmental impacts. The United Nations say because of population growth, food production will have to double in the next 35 years. This can mean clearing more land for farms by cutting down forests bulldozing and spending tons of money, or we can use GMO's to produce more and better food off the same amount of land.

App to Release Insulin

This is just a study, but so far it has seemed to go very well.
The way it works:
Cells genetically engineered to produce insulin are triggered by an app on a smartphone. The cells and a group of LED lights are put into a hydrogel capsule, which is implanted under the mouse's skin. The button on the app lights up the lights, and the cells- created to be triggered by infrared light- then release insulin, stabilising blood sugar without causing hypoglycemia.
If widespread, this could help the roughly 21 million people with diabetes in the US.
