Goal 5: Call Me Mister

We currently have 2 students enrolled and are being supported with scholarship funding; developed an initial infrastructure (Weekly meetings with Geneva- one week individual to provide support: example supported Diego to apply for a promotion at his school; next week meet as a cohort to share strategies-- they are looking at a book study with a book by former Misters); Jeremy Eddy from DPS/Men of Color Collaborative will also be coming into support recruitment as well as connect with the current Misters).

T-PREP: Expanding licensure options that bridge to UCD CLAS (e.g., secondary social studies, secondary English)

T-PAP: Program that provides licensure in a high touch, wrap around

Teacher Education: exploring and implementing ways to increase efficiencies / collaboration across pathways and within pathways (e.g., T-TREP and T-PAP students in same course - started in spring 2024-25)

NxTGen / PARA Center: exploring opportunities for more in-service teacher / administrator / support training for professionals already in the field;

Goal 4- Partnered Research with EdPrepLab/Learning Policy Institute

CU Denver Teacher Ed program has been selected as one of 5 sites to study how we prepare candidates for culturally and linguistically responsive teaching in collaboration with EdPrepLab/Learning Policy Institute (Linda Darling-Hammond and her team). The study will start this spring.

We continue to struggle with communications and marketing. We've been talking about the need for greater investment in this area for nearly a decade (and maybe longer?). We have some new and existing programs that could increase enrollment and revenue if we had better help in this area.

Teacher Ed: collaboration between recruitment, advisors, success center, program coordinators, external partners (mentor teachers, university liaisons), and faculty to provide more holistic support of students; and allowing for individualized / customizable support

Goal 4: Research

We reviewed the action steps for research and noted that many of them were reflective - looking at what we have been doing. We also wondered about action steps that are moving us toward those goals. We talked about support for assistant professors on the tenure track, to align work efforts (and asks) with criteria for evaluation. We also talked about supports for teaching track faculty to engage in research.

As we continue to transition from a teaching-oriented institution to a research-intensive university, what are the SEHD plans to better support - financially and with personnel - grants and research? We are hiring excellent researchers but are not providing them with the resources and supports that they would receive at other institutions.
