There are various things that you don’t know about the Dal Lake Kashmir. As a leading travel company, we listed some important things that you should know about Dal Lake before visit.

Location

In the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district, close to the Tota Rani village, sits Dal Lake. It is 1,775 metres above sea level where it is situated. A total of around 10 square miles are covered by the lake, which is 6.4 km long and 4 km wide. The Dal Lake is a gift from nature to humankind. It is without a doubt one of India's most gorgeous lakes.

Dal Lake Geographical

The Dal lake is one of the most visited place in Srinagar during Kashmir holiday packages. The city of Dal Lake is another name for Srinagar. There are three main sections of the lake: Gagri Bal, Lokut Dal, and Bod Dal. The Sona lank (silver island) and Rupa lank, which are located in the middle of Lokut Dal and Bod Dal, respectively (gold island). Because they both have four chinar trees on them, Sona and Rupa are also known as the Char Chinar. The Dal lake's maximum depth is around 1.37 metres. The lake benefits Kashmir's tourism economy and sustains a fantastic eco system. In the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Dal Lake is the second-largest lake.

Flora and Funa of the Dal Lake

Dal Lake is home to a variety of plants and animals. A large number of Mughal gardens and orchards surround the lake. This stunning lake is enhanced with thousands of water lilies, water chestnuts, and lotus blossoms. The beautiful mountains with willow, poplar, and chinar woods surround the lake. During the summer, local residents even plant vegetables in the water. Additionally, Dal Lake is a haven for birds. Therefore, don't forget to bring your binoculars on the trip to the Dal Lake. The common birds that can be seen here include the Grey Heron, Little Grebe, White-breasted Kingfisher, and Common Pariah. In addition to these, the Dal Lake is home to frogs, bees, grasshoppers, lizards, and mice.

Shiva Mandir

The Raja Gopadatya built the modest yet lovely Shiva temple in the year 371 BC. The earliest shrine to Lord Shiva in Kashmir is located in the Temple. This unusual Shiva shrine is open to visitors on Dal Lake tours. Hari Parbat Temple and Shankracharya Temple are two other temples nearby. Tourists can also visit the University of Kashmir, which is situated near the lake's shoreline, in addition to the temples.

Fishing

There are many fishes in Dal Lake. Therefore, visitors can attempt fishing and angling in the area's waters. The primary source of income for many people living near Dal Lake is fishing. The second-largest industry in the area, which is centred on the lake, is fishing.

House boats

Beautiful houseboats can be rented out to visitors on Dal Lake at reasonable price during Kashmir Tour Packages from Ahmadabad. Shikaras mostly provide service to the boats. There are approximately one hundred boats present here. You might see the salesperson hawking goods to travellers including nuts, fruits, cold drinks, flowers, shawls, books, and carpets. Tourists can engage in a variety of water sports in addition to riding a shikara in its waters. Water skiing, wave scooters, canoeing, kayaking, and water surfing are just a few of them. Trekking up to Shankracharya through the urban jungle is another popular activity that tourists can partake in.
