         <title>Infancy (Birth - 1 year)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Physical Development: The stage with most growth. Muscular and nervous system develop quickly.<br><br>Cognitive Development: Vocalization, learning how to move objects, recognize something/someone familiar, obey simple commands.<br><br>Erikson's Stage of Development: Trust vs Mistrust. Infants are dependent on their caregivers, and the ways parents interact with their children can have a profound effects. The baby can quickly learn how to trust or to mistrust a person based on the events that happened to or around the infant.<br><br>Care Considerations: Parent care, affection (hugging/cuddling), safety, and keep infant away from dangerous objects.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Physical Development: Tremendous body growth, proportions change, quick motor sensory adaptation, undergo bladder/bowel control, starting walking.<br><br>Cognitive Development: Being able to form words and simple sentences, learn attitudes and beliefs, and believe their point of view is the only one.<br><br>Erikson's Stage of Development: Autonomy vs Shame/Doubt. In this stage, toddlers want to become a little more independent from their parents. To gain more control over what they do. And if they do it the wrong way, they will learn and use that experience to shape their views.<br><br>Care Considerations: Speak firmly, distract to teach cooperation, set limits or boundaries, and teach healthy ways to take care of themselves</div>]]></description>

They begin to assert themselves and their control over things by playing with others and social interactions.<br><br>Care Considerations: Encourage social skills, teach good behavior, make learning fun for them</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Physical Development: Physical growth of the body continues, puberty happens, their more permanent teeth come in.<br><br>Cognitive Development: Logical thinking, seeing things from a different standpoint, attention span has increased.<br><br>Erikson's Stage of Development: Industry vs Inferiority. When exploring this stage, children will learn new things such as skills they will feel a sense of self-worth. Although, if not supported in learning new skills, may develop a sense of inferiority.<br><br>Care Considerations: Give some privacy/personal control over life, encourage questions and independence, educate with visual aids.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Physical Development: Maturation of the reproductive system, fine motor skills improve, but gross motor skills are clearly awkward.<br><br>Cognitive Development: Able to use reasoning, gain large quantities of knowledge, and start to create ideas of the future and philosophy. More prone to stress.<br><br>Erikson's Stage of Development: Identity vs Role Confusion. At this time, the adolescent is still trying to figure out themselves. They may experience confusion or insecurities about themselves and how they may fit into society.<br><br>Care Consideration: Encourage questions, provide privacy, explain correct words, involve them in decision making processes.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Physical Development: Physical functions stop progressing around this time, skin looses moisture, problems with weight gain, and stomach problems.<br><br>Cognitive Development: Saving skills and creative are at an all time high, optimal cognitive functioning.<br><br>Erikson's Stage of Development: Intimacy vs Isolation. Adults during this stage center around making relationships with people. Intimate and fulfilling relationships are what they're looking for. And if they struggle at this, they may experience isolation or a feeling of loneliness.<br><br>Care Considerations: Observe body language, make sure that the significant other is appropriate, involve in the decision making processes.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Physical Development: Physical abilities start to decline, strength and endurance decrease, wrinkles may start forming, major body systems may decline.<br><br>Cognitive Development: Still good with problem solving skills, learning may take a little longer, creativity may increase during this stage. <br><br>Erikson's Stage of Development: Generativity vs Stagnation. As the adult grows older, they want to get more involved with their community and friends. They have a desire to make a contribution to their society in a big and positive way. They usually have a need to care for younger generations, like fostering kids or taking care of the kids they have on their own.<br><br>Care Considerations: Encourage self care and to improve and change lifestyle choices, involve in the decision making process.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Later Adulthood (65 years - Death)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Physical Development: Loss of muscle and bone structures, loss use of reproductive systems, changes/decline in vision/hearing, joint pain, weight gain.<br><br>Cognitive Development: Decline in performance, may develop dementia.<br><br>Erikson's Stage of Development: Ego Integrity vs Despair. As the adult grows even older, they will start to reflect on their life and wonder if it was well-lived. And they may feel satisfied that they have. But if they are lacking in that, and feel dissatisfied, they will regret choices and missed opportunities which will lead to despair.<br><br>Care Considerations:<br>1. (Young-Old): Encourage healthy work schedules/more skill and thinking, assist with adjustment to new roles.<br>2. (Middle-Old): Offer support systems, talk about feelings, provide a safe environment, be alert for medical things.<br>3. (Old-Old): Help with self care, involve their family members, provide physical care, be sensitive to sensory impairments.</div>]]></description>
