The body of an essay usually has three or four paragraphs, with four to five sentences each one in order to develop the idea. Each paragraph is made up of three sections: the topic sentence -states what the paragraph is about- the supporting sentence, the largest one which expands previous ideas and lastly, the concluding sentence.

The outline of an essay is its own spine. It can be general (it only contains the main points that are developed in each paragraph) or specific (it contains both the main points of the body of the essay and every single piece of information that will be talked about in each of them). 

It is important to be organized and have a plan. Having a well-planned outline before you start writing is useful and makes the final result of your essay coherent.  Once you start writing and the spine of the essay is ready, your ideas will flow easily and creatively.

In the body one will develop those topics introduced by the thesis statement in the introduction, you should always be aware of it through this part of the essay. The first one is used to call the reader’s attention through mentioning a shocking statistic about certain topic or a rhetorical question. The second element that the introduction should have is the connecting information in which the writer gives background information in order to clarify what the context of the essay is. And the latter involves a sentence that will sum up the argument that will be presented though the text. The thesis statement can be direct or indirect, which means that the writer offers specific information or a general idea respectively.
