"We the people", one of his many projects, is especially focused on the people, which makes sense. And in this project he especially puts the accent on diversity and citizenship, which makes his project a project both for and about Amercian citizens.

The evolution of his art

Even beeing from an economically comfortable family; his father is, for the record, a doctor; he choses art over everything else. And with some recoil over his career, he was right !

At first, Shepard Fairey chose to live his life as an artist because it was the only career he was confident enough to drop into. So he started as a street artist, even if at the very beginning he used to "sell for free" his artworks which were mostly skateboard stickers. At this time of his life he was technically a criminal. But at some point, he dropped into politics, which threw him to the top of his fame at the time. Then, his fame, obviously, helped him a lot in his career, and he started to make profit out of graphic design, and even ended up launching his brand, OBEY.

From the bottom, to the top.

(oral Juliette)
Shepard leads many successful solo and group projects and exhibitions around the world.

As we said, Street art allows the artist to expose his involvement to everyone. Poor as rich, cultured person or not. It makes him interact indirectly with his public and disseminates easily his ideas among population, and this all around the world !

For exemple in paris, after the 2015 attacks, the artist created a poster depicting Marianne, the french national icon, surrounded by the french motto Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité and paid an homage to the victims. One year later, he reproduced the image as a mural in the city.

In Roma, in his exhibition « strategies for a revolution », he selected a series of unseen works tuching the most important topic of his career between underground culture and political activism ; power in war. Helps by colours and technics, Shpard Fairey represents it in all his facets and meanings, both as a form of political tyranny and as a drive able of guide the masses from their oppressors.

Nowadays, Shepard Fairey's art is know all around the world as a symbole of modernity and resistance.
