Hello!

My name is Samantha Trask! I want to start out by letting you know a little bit about myself. I have always loved children and helping others succeed. I believe that the beginning of a child's life is the most crucial time for them. I am an advocate for children and early childhood education. My main belief is that play is one of the most important pieces of a child's development. Play is what fuels a child's mind, allowing him or her to express themselves freely. Through play, children are able to learn how to be social and imaginative. I am interested in becoming an elementary school teacher and I plan on incorporating my beliefs into the curriculum that I will be given to teach with. I will provide children with a fun, creative, and welcoming environment as they enter my second grade classroom.

Some children may not have a healthy living situation at home, so when they come to school it gives them a chance to get away and experience something better. Some children are not allowed play time at home, so in my classroom I want to make sure I allow time for them to interact with others. There will be more than play all day long, but I will make sure they are getting the proper amount of free time to express and enjoy themselves. While they are playing, they are developing socially, cognitively, and physically without even knowing it. Children learn through play and develop many skills while playing with other children. It allows them to think outside the box and put things into perspective. Interacting with other children allows them to be social and explore different kinds of people. They are learning emotional skills by becoming compassionate towards others while sharing toys and just overall being around other children

Waldorf Education:
Steiner believed that spiritual, mental, and physical development of children are happening in the first seven years of life, and are crucial. He was all about the balance of imagination, creativity, and development. The schools that he developed were based off the children's learning pace. The children were not rushed to be developed, they were on their own track.

In my classroom, I will use this approach to education because I believe that every child learns at a different pace and should not feel pressured to live up to the standards of other children. I do understand that their is a baseline of development for each year of a child's life, but I do not believe in rushing them to develop too quickly. If a child is a little behind the other kids, I want to make sure that they are getting the help they need to keep moving forward.
