I am from Oakland, California. My parents are from Vietnam. They emigrated out of Vietnam as refugees to Taiwan and Hong Kong to escape the Vietnam war. I am grateful for Vietnamese and Chinese food and cultural festivals like Lunar New Year! My favorite food is pho, dimsum and Thai food! I love living in Oakland, CA because it is really diverse and there is a Chinatown that lets me get all my favorite childhood food! My parents and older sister are from Taiwan, and they moved to Oklahoma so that my dad could study business at Oklahoma City University. I love all the different food and people here in San Francisco as well as all the parks and nature! I also miss my friends, family, and the amazing skies back in Oklahoma City. I would like to ask new immigrants about what they need to feel safe and welcome. I hope we all can continue to learn more about our own migration stories and each others' migration stories!
