In summer 1956, in his audition for the Quarrymen, McCartney sang two songs by Eddie Cochran. Due to his high level of guitar skills, he was invited to join the band. By 1959, the band became solidified, consisting of John, Paul, and George on the guitar, with John's art college mate, Stuart Sutcliffe playing the bass.
