I am a highschool student in South East Alamance Highschool in Haw River North Carolina, I am currently writing and doing a research project on hair and how different factors can increase or decrease hair growth for my AP Research class. I want to do this project because I myself struggled with hair loss as a teenager due to stress and other life factors I have dealt with. In my project I want to be able to help teenagers understand in a simpler sense what their hair is and what their outside life has to affect for their hair loss contribution, additionally I want teenagers to have access to understanding what hair loss is and how to combat it without buying extreme over the counter medication in hopes of replenishing their hair. I want to perform a study on teenagers who experience high stress levels in school due to rigorous course scheduling, sports participation and clubs or other forms of outside participation and how it affects their hair.

I initially saw your name in the research paper you co-authored "Rosmagain™ as a natural therapeutic for hair regrowth and scalp health: A double-blind, randomized, three-armed, placebo-controlled clinical trial." This paper alone will help me tremendously in my study but then when I looked more about you I realized you spend a lot of your life's work in this field specifically Herbal, Natural Health Products. My plan for my study is to see how different botanical oils affect hair growth and I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I noticed that you consistently work in dermatology and other fields similar to such. I would love to have a meeting with you and be able to understand more about the field and more about your research. More so, I would love for you to be my expert advisor in my study. I understand you most likely have a busy schedule but I also hope you can find time to meet with me. As per being my expert advisor if you accept the idea I can explain what you are and are not allowed to do as my expert advisor per the college board guidelines. We would not have to meet consistently daily and maybe even weekly just enough so I know I am going in the right direction with my research.

I really hope you take my question into consideration and help me understand how to do this research properly. I really enjoyed reading your work and your bibliography on Cureus. I find it awing that someone spends so much time in the field I dream to be a part of one day in the near future.

I have to measure people's hair to see which option would provide the better hair growth technique. Although many people swear by hair oiling stressful environments in general could also cause health problems that include hair loss. Therefore I chose to look at both hair oiling and stress management techniques to view this from a first hand perspective.

There is also not enough research out there on teenagers specifically with all the horomones they are experiencing at the time.

I could've simply chosen a meta analysis or a correlational study but neither of those would give me the actual outcome. Though a correlational study would show me correlations, it would not also show me a causation, as you may know, correlation does not equal causation. As for the meta analysis, it would be very hard to find studies that look at both of these factors without an underlying health problem. I am looking for teenage girls in highschool who may be experiencing life stressors. This method that I chose to experiment and view the outcome of people who are in these situations would show me accurate results.

That suggestion really makes me look at my grammar and spelling because I know once I hit a flow state I don't really pay attention to words or grammar, I mainly focus on the information being put down.

2) This can help me specifically because my original research question is "To what extent does external stress and botanical factors affect hair growth and length retention in highschool students?" so far I have found more change in the overall scalp health versus hair length etc etc.

3) In my experiment just overall change, the photos can be used and shown as how things are changing. So far in one of my participants I have noticed a significant decrease in dandruff, and in another oil.

I will use both histograms, bar graphs and scatter plots for my data. line graphs are gonna be my main thing to show

She used a lot of academic writing and language but she explained the graphs and set them up in a way that made sense. Like chronologically I guess....

I think I am going to keep this paper to learn how to write academically specifically.

A lot of my studies were not specific towards females aged 16-18 years old so I had to really think about what could be generalized such as sleep factors and stress factors but I also had to dive deep on how hormonal changes could affect young girls

Many people have struggled with hair loss, and stressful environment and not knowing how to cope. My study just highlights and improves the knowledge in the field so people can learn and adjust.

Specifically schools learning how to teach stress management and self care that is not taught at home.

A lot of my research wasn't centered about teenage girls. So I had to read between the lines, figure out which of the research could be generalized etc.
