Malala Yousafzai was 11 years old when her father took her to a local press club in Peshawar to protest the school closings. She gave her first speech; “How Dare the Taliban Take Away My Basic Right to Education?” Her speech was publicised throughout Pakistan. This was the first step Malala took on her journey of making radical change. Near the end of 2008 that Taliban announced that all girls schools in Swat Valley where to be shut down on the 15th of January, 2009. The BBC approached Malalas father looking for someone who would blog about that it was like to live under the Taliban rule. Malala, under the name Gul Makai, started writing regular entries to the BBC Urdu. from January to March she wrote 35 entries.

Malala has taken many risks to make radical change. one of the first major risks that malala took was making her speech in 2012; "How dare I let the Taliban take away my basic right to education". she took a major risk by blogging about living under the Taliban rules in 2009. Malala believed that she needed to take this risks to make a change. unfortunately this meant that the Taliban saw her as a somewhat threat.
On October 9th 2012, Malala was on her way home from school when a Taliban man hopped on the bus that was taking Malala and her classmates home. He asked who Malala was and then proceeded to shoot her in the side of the head. malala was flown to a military base hospital in penes haw where a part of her skull was removed then flown to Birmingham in England.

On July 7 2017, Malala Yousafzai posted her first tweet. Within hours, she had earned several hundred thousand followers. Given Malala’s story from her journey from getting shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in 2012, to becoming a Nobel Prize-winning advocate for female education worldwide.

Pakistanis responded negitivly. The criticism when striped down : There’s nothing special about Malala. Many Pakistani children suffer worse fates than Malala. What has Malala ever done for Pakistan? Why does the world love Malala so much? And if Malala really cares about Pakistan, why doesn’t she come back? (Gibson, 2017) These are all questions that the Pakistani people asked and commented. you can only imagine that it would be difficult to make so much change and try to keep positive if the country you where born in didn't support you.

What is most inspiring about Malala

Malalas story is very inspiring. She has taken many risks and dangers so that she can get a reward that not only makes her life better but makes life so much better for so many others. Malala was 15 when she was shot and she had already been making immense change for over 4 years. I believe that this makes Malala so inspiring because she put herself in danger to create happiness for others. so many people the same age as Malala would not even think about making change to benefit others. Malalas has challenged my world view because prior to studying Malala my view on how one person can impact the world has changed. I now believe it is possible for me to make a change.

When she was told girls wouldn't be allowed access to education she challenged that. she knew it was dangerous but she was not afraid to tell people that it was wrong. she posed questions that made people think. I believe that Malalas open mindedness came from her father. Malalas father supported malala through her fight to make a radical change. he believed that she was capable of making the change they wanted. Malalas father was the person who planted this seed of in Malala about wanting to brake down the unfair and sexist rules the Taliban had and still do have. I believe that malls father help make Malala into the courages and brave person she is. She encourages open mindedness my posing a question that created thoughts. opinions and more questions all over the world.

Malalas view was that all girls should be able to have access to a safe and enjoyable education in a safe school without the fear of harm from Taliban. she believed that girls and women should have the same rights as men and boys and should not be considered "lesser". Malalas goal wasn't just for Pakistan but was worldwide. 57 million children around the world who are denied opportunities to go to school (Zeiden, 2014). Malala challenged the "western world" to see beyond the western borders. Pakistan has the world’s second highest number of children out of school — 5.1 million in 2010 — and girls make up two-thirds of these children (Zeiden, 2014) These where the statistics that Malalas wanted to change. Malala was faced with the Talibans worldview In Pakistan. Pakistan was and still is faced with extreme poverty and cultural discrimination against women. the Taliban believed that girls should not have the right to a education or rights. The worlds view on the situation was shelted. governments from foreign countries didn't want to deal with the situation so it was easier to not step in. When the USA did invade the amount of children not being able to have access to school rose higher then it had in over 10 years (Mellen, 2018)

Her first fight back against the Taliban was when she gave her speech, "How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?" in September 2008. when Malalas was 11 she started blogging to the BBC about living under the rules of the Taliban. Malala kept speaking out about her and many other girls right, her family was issues with a death treat against them (Biography.com Editors, 2020) when Malala was shot in 2015 she was flown to England where she began her recovery and her family settled.
