Admin does not connect at the meeting and sits on the laptop and does other work or walks in and out of the room throughout the meeting.

The admin who is in the IEP meeting needs to be freed up to be just in the meeting and the other admin needs to be talking care of the building issues during that time.

In my experience, the admin are not engaging in the IEP meeting. They introduce themselves and then spend the rest of the meeting on their computer or answering emails. They rely on the teacher or SEC for parent questions. They have very little knowledge of the medical concerns and areas we often have questions about.

Some building level admin do not know when to direct the conversation to the experts at the table (ex. Behavior Specialists). They attempt to answer questions outside their scope of practice.

Stacey and Rob have given me as much of a heads up as they can when they cannot make a meeting.

LEAs are more involved with knowing about what learners are working on for related services in school.

I really enjoy having the building administrators present. A much more relaxed atmosphere.

SEC should be available to attend all meetings so questions can be answered that are specific to special education. Not all admin is realistic in what can/cannot be done in special ed.

Maybe have the Admin choose days to dedicate to the meetings so that if they are "scheduled" to cover IEP meetings and behaviors occur, the other admin know to step in and handle the incident so that IEP meetings can still occur on time and the case manager is not scrambling to find another LEA

LEA's have a difficult time providing feedback on the IEP because they are not aware of the IEP process and all areas of the IEP. We miss the feedback from the SEC throughout the IEP process.

The administrator in the IEP meeting needs to be fully able to attend the meeting, as sometimes they need to leave to attend to behaviors, which I completely understand. However, when parents have questions related superficially to the IEP, admins struggle to provide those answers, so SEC input is missed in meetings.

It is difficult when you need them to jump in because it's a question for the LEA, but they are just giving a blank stare because they are not sure of the answer.

Are the LEAs permitted to make decisions for Special Ed ? It seems they frequently need to review with Special Ed admin which may delay responses.

If the scheduled LEA can not attend the meeting, they should be finding an alternate LEA instead of putting it on the case manager.

When there are hard questions, parents who are not agreeing with the IEP, or have complaints about the programming, I haven't felt like that Principals have been able to successfully answer those questions. It feels like it falls back on to the other staff in the room to handle those issues.

When SECs are not in attendance, they don't know exactly what was discussed and cannot support conversations that often depend on history. They are not always able to attend because several teachers are scheduling overlapping meetings with LEAs and the SEC is told later.

Not a lot of flexibility with times for case managers to hold IEP meetings on the assigned IEP meeting days.

The assigned time frames on IEP meeting days do need seem to handle the amount of IEP and/or RR/ER meetings that need to be held throughout the school day, especially towards the end of the school year.

Sometimes parents ask questions that only the SEC knows the answer to, and with the SEC not there, the principal may not have the correct answers.

When Spec Ed Consultant can't attend IEP meeting but LEA can, I am not getting the feedback I appreciate so much (notes taken by consultant) while I am holding meeting and rely on because I can't take notes and present at the same time.

An IEP calendar for LEA would be helpful for scheduling verses multiple e-mails to find available times.
