I want to earn the principled pin because I want to show Ms. Hamilton that I am a principled kid and I will follow the rules and the expectations that Ms.Hamilton gives me. Examples:

1. Sometimes I have trouble admitting to when I did something wrong so I want to get better at that by telling myself it’s always better to tell the truth. 2. Sometimes when Ms. Hamilton asks the class to tidy up and get ready for the end of the day I sometimes keep working, so I need to tell myself to stop and get ready for the end of the day.3.For my last step I want to do the right thing meaning if the rest of my class is running down the hallways I will not do that and I will wait till the teacher comes back. I will try to accomplish this goal January 28 2025.

At the beginning of the school year, I set myself some goals.

 My goals were to not keep working at the end of a period when it

is time to stop, also to always tell the truth if I did something wrong, 

and do the right thing.I think I accomplished my goals and that’s 

why I think I deserve the principled pin

My name is Ela, at my school my favourite subjects are art, Phys.ed, and inquiry. I’m also in a program called SBSingers and it is quite fun. My favourite singer is Olivia Rodrigo and the songs I like by her are Deja Vu, Jealousy Jealousy, Vampire, Drivers License, and Good 4 You. My favourite colours are purple and baby blue. My favourite dishes are : ramen air fried salmon, and Annies pasta. My favourite book series are Harry Potter and the Baby- Sitters club graphic novel. My favourite movies are Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Enola Holmes. My Favourite shows are Brooklyn 99 and Modern Family. My Favourite animal is a tiger.

During my math test I think I did pretty well and I think I really used my thinking skills because I really thought about each question. Also I thought about different ways to think about the question. Some things I might need to work on are remembering order of operations and not missing any details that might be important. Right now we are working on fractions. I think I am getting a hang of it and I think I know what to do on each question. Something I might need to work on is turning a mixed fraction into a inproper fraction or the opposite like backwards. The ATLs I think I used were thinking and self-management skills.

For are end of the day activity we did cross hatching art, it’s basically where you draw a bunch of squiggly lines and then make loops so you can put a cross hatching design inside. Once you’re done you make some parts of the lines thick and some thin. I think I did well on making shapes and different lines but I might need to work on making my lines smoother. Maybe next time I can take more time and before I hand it in I can make sure that everything that needs to be done is done and if something needs to be done I can do it. The ATLs that I think I used were social and communication skills.

Right now in gym we are working on our basketball unit.

I like it a lot and I think I am doing very well, and I like dribbling a lot and shooting, those are the two things in basketball that I think I am good at. The thing that I might need to work on, is the skills like the under the legs or around the back. It is sometimes difficult because I don’t practice at home and soccer is mostly my sport. But something I can do to get better is practice maybe 10 or 15 mins a day. The ATLs I think I used were thinking skills and self-management skills.

Every Wednesday we do the dood in music class.

Right now we are working on Silent Night for the December Concert. It is really fun to work on and there are high and low notes and I’m glad I got put in low notes. Right now I think I’m doing pretty well in getting the rhythm and most of the notes I am pretty good at. Something I might need to work on the lower notes such as C,D because it’s quite hard to get them sound like the others. So to work on that I will bring my dood home more often and work on those notes separately. The ATLs I think I used were Self-management skills and Thinking skills.

Right now I love the unit.

I like learning about the different poles and which animals go in what pole. I think I am doing very great in the unit and I am understanding what needs to be done. Something I might need to work on is remembering some of the facts or writing faster when I hear the facts. In order to doing that maybe I will practice jotting notes down quicker. The. ATLs I think I used were thinking and research skills.

Right now in language we are reading Harriet the Spy and it is very interesting. When we listen to the book we are also jotting down notes, I think I am good at jotting the facts that are important for our debate on this book. Something I might have to work on is jotting down notes faster and not missing any details, making sentences make sense. To be able to get better at these things I will practice at home and watch a video and take notes on it. The ATLs I think I used were self-management and research skills.

Right now in our French unit we are working on what we prefer(prèferes). I think I am good at asking people what they prefer and what not or writing down what I prefer. Something I might need to work on is pronouncing the words properly. For example: prèferes I sometimes am not pronouncing it correctly. To work on getting better at that I will ask my mom to help me pronouncing the words and practice at home at times so I can get better at it. The ATLs I think I used were thinking and research skills.

Right now in library it is the same as always for what we are checking out for books to take home. I think I am good at participating when Ms. Mactaggart asks a question. But something I might need to work on is checking out a variety of different books to take home. To that at home I will challenge myself to read a long novel. The ATLs skills I think I used were Thinking and Research skills.

Right now for the end of the activity we did a stained glass art project. What you had to do was:

1. You make a sketch of a animal from the north or the south.

2. Then you draw diagonal lines around the animal to make sections.

3. After, you put a piece of acetate on top of the paper.

4. Once you’ve done that, you colour each section with different coloured sharpies and then outline those lines with black sharpie.

5. Once you have finished that you will, take the acetate off the paper .

6. Then put the acetate on a piece of foil.

I think I did well on this project because I followed the steps correctly and chose nice colours to go with my animal. Something I might need to work on is staying in the lines and colouring in one direction. To get better at that I will practice at home and colour a bit more. The ATLs I think I used were thinking and self- management skills.

Right now in gym we are working on our volleyball unit.

I think I am good at serving the ball over the net and usually getting a point. Also hitting the ball up so one of my teammates can hit it over. Something I might need to work on is after the other team hits the ball over the net, trying to hit it right back over. This is one skill I will need to know for volleyball. To work on getting better at this I will, practice with a volleyball in my backyard when it gets a bit warmer. The ATLs I think I used were communication and thinking skills.

Something that stood out to me in our art unit was when we did the birch tree art it reminded me of when me and my family had once went on a hike I saw a bunch of birch trees. It made me feel happy because it reminded me of that special moment and how we had a lot of fun. Also when we went to the Mc Micheal Gallery and I got to see all different kinds of art that was really nice and I got to see the different textures and value of colour.

After the December break we made really cool art projects.

First we had make a picture of something we did on the break and put a person or animal looking out the window. I think I did this art project really well because I think I showed what I did on the break well and the animals that I put looking out the window looked nice

Right now we are working on our Human Body Unit, my partner is Charlotte and the system we are working on, is the digestive system. First we have to do some research on the system then we assign our partner and our self the parts of the body we want to research on. Once we have enough research information about our system then we make a poster of our human body system. We draw every detail and then label each part, after we colour in our body parts and outline them. Then we make a sign that goes next to our poster, when displayed. Then. Then Charlotte and I put together a little doc or presentation for our class to explain the human body a bit better. I think Charlotte and I did really well working together and deciding things without arguing. The ATLs I think I used were communication and thinking skills.

We were just working on our spelling bee.

I really wanted to get into the finals and I did!

Ava was the 1st one to get into the finals and then

I was the 2nd one and the Charlotte was 3rd after that the last finalist was George who was the 4th person who made it in the finals. I think I did really well but there is still the finals.

I could do really well if I keep practicing and reading but

Anyone could win, just like last year I had no idea I was going to win! But I think I am proud of myself for just getting in the finals!

Right now in gym we are working on badminton.

I am already very good at badminton and I find it quite easy whenever I play. We had two tournaments, one is the singles and the other is the doubles. I got first in the singles and fourth in the doubles. I think i did well.

Through out the year I have been doing a program called Sunnybrook Singers (SBSingers). I really like it so far even though the songs are really hard! But it is so much fun being in a group where we show our talents of getting to sing! Because we sing complicated songs we spilt into groups. So for now we are in two groups soprano and alto. I am in alto (which is the harder one) because we are the part that makes the song alive. I think I am doing really well. Next week on Wednesday we have a competition but I think I am ready to do well with everybody else.

The questions I still have are…

1. Can some peoples Human Body Systems have something missing at birth?

2. What would happen if your human body systems were not working together?

3. Do your Systems grow bigger as you grow up?

4. What would happen if one system was to small?

I really like bowling and that we are trying something new!

I kind of like that we mix grades so we are with different people but I also like just our class. Hopefully next year we get to do bowling again.

my part is violin1, and the other parts are: violin2, viola, and bass. 4 different parts in total. Hopefully we can show the school once we are done!

It is a mix of 4 different fairy tales. I tried for a main role but I did not get one. In grade 4 it is hard to get a role, but maybe next year I will get one. In the play with the Birch house we were in the song “ I know things now” and we were little red riding hoods. I would have much more wanted a main role but I am happy I get to be in the play. Next year I am going to prepare more ahead of time so I can get a role. Overall the musical was really fun!
