In the 1993 Film directed by Steven Spielberg, Oskar Schindler is prepared to make a fortune during World War 2. he Joins the Nazi party to have a political advantage. He staffs his factory with Jewish workers, and when the Nazi party begins to exterminate the Jews. He arranges to have his workers protected to keep his factory working, simultaneously saving innocent people's lives.

This movie is extremely powerful and shows a glimpse of humanity on a topic that's full of inhumanity

VIDEO: Remember the Children: Daniels Story

This Video Published By the United States Holocaust Museum, takes you through the exhibit itself, along with the story of Daniel. It tells his story starting at a young age and his experience with the Holocaust, including the several years prior. It includes Artifacts, Pictures, audio files, and a first hand account of a child's experience.

I think videos that take you through the exhibits themselves like this can be super interesting and interactive for students, especially because a lot of students will never be able to experience it in person and I think the video does a great job of showing the exhibition.

ARTICLE: Holocaust Deniers and Public Misinformation

This is an informative article about how the spread of misinformation led to a rise in holocaust denial. It describes the thinking of holocaust deniers, including that if one fact is incorrect then it never happened. I find this article extremely interesting because it allows you to see how holocaust deniers think (however wrong it might be). One thing I read in the article that just absolutely shocked me was that a lot of people believed that since there was never a document signed by Hitler ordering the holocaust, then it must be some elaborate hoax.

the goal of this article is to show the students how important it is to learn about and talk about the holocaust.

BOOK: Tattooist of Auschwitz

The Tattooist of Auschwitz, By Heather Morris, tells the story of a Slavic jew named Lale who was imprisoned in Auschwitz, and his love story with a girl he was tattooing at the concentration camps. its based on the true story of Lale and his wife Gita.

This book is one of my favorite books, I think that it's very emotional and I think I would Use this as an intro into the Holocaust Unit, just because it's a good introduction to a very dark topic.

VIDEO: Three Survivors Remember Auschwitz, 80 years

This video is about Three Survivors who were imprisoned in Auschwitz. It was a very unsettling yet touching experience watching them talk about their experiences in camps.

I remember watching a video similar to this one when I was in high school, and it was very touching and truly an inspirational video. It also gets students to better connect with the subject and see why it's so important for us to learn about these subjects. Its also a very recent video (2025)

This clipping was Published in the United States and outlines the "racial cards" being used in Germany to determine who is what "blood race". this is the beginning of Hitler's "Aryan Race" ideology and caused a lot of crime in Germany.

I think that newspaper clipping are really interesting when it comes to Social studies, I do wish it was a German Newspaper but I was having a hard time trying to find one.

This special, staring Morgan freedman talks to a lot of different people from a lot of different backgrounds including holocaust survivor and Noble Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel. they touch on antisemitism in the modern day, stories from during the holocaust, and so much more.

I thought it was incredibly interesting, I personally love podcasts, I listen to them all the time (especially while I do homework). its also a different form of media, I feel like a lot of teachers show only videos and photos and this is just a nice change of pace in the classroom.

VIDEO/ MUSIC: Lost Voices from the holocaust

This music is extremely gut-wrenching to hear, especially when you know its history, where it was created, and who created it and is playing it. The song is performed by violinist Edward Polidi.

I really love when teachers use music from the time period, even when they don't have words, it makes you really connect to people from the time and is so emotional to listen to when you know the context of the music. it gives you a very unsettling feeling when you listen to it.
