Post #9 Reason of Belief #3: Emotional Connection

a. Definition – The obvious reason of belief is an emotional connection. Emotions are a very powerful thing and when it becomes to believing something emotions are front and center.

b. Connection – Based on the picture it shows two people holding hands staring at the sunset, now if one of those people died the other would be heartbroken but might still be convinced that the other person is still with them because they can feel there presence. This is not uncommon for when someone dies for you to believe they are watching over you because in essence that is what belief is.

a. Definition – Patternicity is a reason of belief because if a person tells you that there is a hidden image in a picture you believe them and then you can see the picture too.

b. Connection – In the picture below you can see a face… that right there was a reason of belief because know that I have told you about the face you can see the face for yourselves.

a. Definition – This is a reason of belief because when something can’t be easily explained by science people think it is because something unnatural has happened.

b. Connection – A psychic is an example of simplicity because if you happen to guess something right people call you a psychic while in reality it was just a guess that could have happened to anyone.

a. Definition – Ideology is a red flag that deals with a system of ideas based on religion, politics or policies. An example of this is when someone says they can’t do something because of there religion.

b. Connection – In this clip from Grey’s Anatomy you can see the red flag Ideology very clearly because although the doctor wants to operate the patient decides to side with her father and a shaman is brought in to heal her.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HTynK9oj_Q

a. Definition – Red Herring is a red flag which is when you mislead someone by drawing there attention anywhere but where the attention is needed. This tactic is used often by conspiracy theories.

b. Connection – This picture shows a red flag in action; the little girl tells her mom that she wants that toy and the mom instead tells the girl to go home so she can get a yummy treat. The Red Herring is the mom averting her daughter’s attention away from the toy towards a treat instead.

a. Definition – Ancient Wisdom is a red flag that is about all things ancient, including ancient knowledge, ancient beings and ancient practices. Its insane to believe that ancient wisdom works better then modern science when curing problems.

b. Connection – This video shows the Ancient Wisdom red flag because of the reference that all ancient cultures are descendants of Atlantis. The video states that the people of Atlantis survived and headed west to the Americas and became the Mayans.

c. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fjd5e0mZvk
