<title>Abbey and Olivia Summary of Act One:Rev. Parris’s daughter, Betty, is sick and nobody can figure out why. All signs point to witchcraft. Girls were seen dancing naked in the forest and Abigail drank blood. Abigail blames all of this on Tituba and the town questions her and asks her if the devil is within her. She says yes, and also says that the devil is with others including Goody Good and Goody Osburn. Betty claims that she saw George Jacobs with the Devil and Abigail also accuses others as well.”Abigail: I saw Goody Sibber with the Devil… I saw Goody Hawkins with the Devil… I saw Goody Booth with the Devil!” (1 p 48)Summary of Act Two:Proctor goes home to find that all of the girls; Mary Warren, Abigail and the others are now officials of the court and accusing people of witchcraft. We also find out that Elizabeth knows about Proctor’s affair with Abigail, and she is cold and punishing him, although she claims to not judge him. Abigail tries to get Elizabeth convicted and she is caught having a poppet that convinced Herrick and Cheever she was guilty, but Mary Warren saves her. Elizabeth is still taken to jail. “ Cheever: I spy a poppet, Goody Proctor. Elizabeth: Why, this is Mary’s.” (II p 72)Elizabeth Proctor is Proctor’s wife. She’s a good Christian; she is dependable and ethical, yet she is cold and isolated toward her husband because he had an affair with their housekeeper. She has trouble forgiving him and because of this their relationship is strained. She is accused of witchcraft by Abigail Williams (the housekeeper) and is taken by Herrick and Cheever. “You’ll tear it free-- when you come to know that I will be your only wife, or no wife at all!” (II, p 62)</title>
