Introduction

For my second Media Report, I decided to choose a song that was outside of my normal genre that I listen to. I chose the genre of Soft Rock/Pop. I went to Billboard and looked up really popular songs in the past couple of months within this genre and that is how I chose the song by Harry Styles, "Sign of the Times." My first time listening to it, I was not much of a fan. I did not relate to the video or the song in general at first glance, I thought it was really generic and basic. After a little bit of research and learning about the song and video, I actually enjoyed it a lot. I realized that the meaning behind the song was just going through hard times and how you should be strong enough to get through it, because there will be even more hard times. It was very relatable and I think it was also hopeful for those going through a tough situation.

"We're in a difficult time, and I think we've been in many difficult times before. But we happen to be in a time where things happening around the world are absolutely impossible to ignore. I think it would've been strange to not acknowledge what was going on at all. For example, 'Sign of the Times,' for me, it's looking at several different things. That's me commenting on different things."

-Harry Styles on his song "Sign of the Times"

After listening to Yellow by Coldplay, I heard another song of theirs - The Scientist. Although the guitar isn't really a big deal in this song, the piano is. I really love the sound of the piano in this song, it gives the right amount of mellow and passion it needed.
