    • 1) I choose this particular image because is what El Salvador has to reminds us how far we came along.
    2) What I will change is the redo on the square. I wanted to put square on top of another square. 
    3) I had more phone doing the temple then the ground.

This is their adopted dog Ludo. This took a long time to do - I realize now just how small I made the pieces.

    I learned how to understand abstraction a bit better. To be honest, while I was doing this piece, I did not think I was doing the original image justice and thought I was muddying the details too much. Even when I finished, it seemed like it wasn't good. It was only a few days later that I looked at it both from emotional and physical distance to see it more for what it is rather than my zoomed-in perspective. 

    I am most pleased with the colors. The dog is a black dog in real life, but I wanted to avoid using black in the piece. Instead, I went with the blues and browns of the reflected light. I think what I wanted to do was achieved well.     2) I learned doing the mosaic was a lot more time consuming than I thought. I also focused too much on the color palette at first and that kind of slowed me down. 
    3) The most pleasing parts was the top portion of the background it’s super light and the pieces were small which made it look nicer.   • I particularly chose this image because I love butterflies. My absolute favorite is the Monarch Butterfly. Butterflies have different meanings and symbolisms to people. Monarch butterflies represent transformation and rebirth for some people, including myself. Many people might view a Monarch butterfly sighting as a sign of upcoming change or new direction in their life. 
  • What I learned from this project is that creating a Mosaic requires a lot of work and effort. But most importantly, being creative for the most part. One thing I would change from my Mosaic would be using much smaller pieces to put it all together.
  •  Putting everything together and seeing it come to life was probably what I enjoyed the most from this project. The outcome was better than I expected and overall very successful.

Unfortunately the photos I took of the progress seem to have vanished... So I can't show the midway point that was accomplished. Just know that when I finished the blue background I was covered in glue, my back was hurting, and after 5 hours of work I wanted to give up. I love going on walks and seeing all of the citrus trees happily soaking up the sun. 
    I learned that you have to clean your hands every five minutes or less to not get into a sticky situation. Next time I would change the type of glue I used. Maybe a very thin glue I can use with a brush instead of a glue stick.
    The leaves are my favorite part of the project.     3. I think the most successful part so far was the hand. The hand is a big challenge and I have to pay attention to where I could put it into the pieces of mosaics.

As a single person, they were good company. 

    2) what I learned and what I’d change: I learned a lot about shading and shadows. Looking at the colors against a gray scale and determining how to best represent them was very instructional. I also learned the value of stepping back and viewing the piece from a distance. I do this with my sculpture work, but I didn’t realize how important it was when working with such small pieces. I’d change the gradation of the background to include a greater range of light to dark. It was too monochromatic. 

    3) I like the emotion in the piece that was achieved through using very small pieces in the face and eyes. This allowed for more subtlety.     I choose this image because of my love of axolotls. I think there really cool and nice to look at. This image in particular had a lot of colors to pick from and had a nice dark background to contrast it. There were other axolotls to choose from but I like this color the best. 
    2. What did you learn and what might you change if you were to redo this project?
    Doing this project let me notice color more closely and find even the smallest details. It also reminded me how hard doing a mosaic is. If I were to redo this project I would change and some colors in certain areas to make it look better.
    3. Which parts are the most pleasing or successful?
    The most successful parts were the small areas that had big color changes, like the gill parts of the axolotl or it's fingers. From this project, I learned how to arrange paper of different shapes to make artworks. If I had to redo the project, I would probably swap the shapes and background sizes, using large pieces of paper to form hearts and small pieces of paper to form backgrounds. I chose this image because the contrasting colors stood out to me, plus it's a picture of my cat Mochi. I knew we had to have a main focus so I remembered taking this picture while she was relaxing on a chair couch because I had never seen her rest on it before. I really liked how her colors are so muted compared to the bright colored couch so I thought it would be interesting to work with.

    2. During this whole process I learned that I could cut the shaped in a certain way that would add dimension to the mosaic in a way. I figured that doing this mosaic with squares or triangles alone wouldn't capture what I wanted from the picture. And I would try and redo some parts of her body because I think I could've done better with her paws. Next time I would cut the pieces of paper up more to add more dimension like I did with the couch. And I also would make the shapes more cleaner on the couch.

    3. I think the most successful part of this mosaic is her eyes and face area, I really tried hard to make it accurate or else she wouldn't look like herself. Plus I like how some parts of the couch turned out. I think I achieved most of my vision for this project. And I will honestly would fix on how I put the pieces of paper on top of my cat’s head, it looks like he is mad. And I will probably add little bit of brown paper to face.
