* One new fact that I learned was that an outer bank is surrounded by water.

                The Dark Side of the Mississippi River

 * One fact that I learned is that when the Mississippi river floods it can destroy crops and land. For now it's levees are holding up to prevent any water from getting out.

                   Mammoth Cave National Park

* One fact I learned about this national park is that the longest river in the cave is Echo river. The river is home to an unique species of eyeless fish. The cave is also home to blind beetles and crayfish that have lived there for millions of generations.

                       Great Smoky Mountains

* One fact that I learned is that the Smoky mountains are actually part of the Appalachian mountain range.
* I also learned that Bryson city is the smoky mountains nearest city.

             Hurricane hunting in the Atlantic ocean

* One fact I learned about hurricane hunting is that the hurricane hunters collect the highest wind speed which is usually near the eye's wall. ( the eye is the middle of the hurricane. I learned that from who smarted.)

                           Arkansas rice farming

* One fact I learned is that rice farming came to Arkansas in the early 1800's. Arkansas was the first county to start growing rice. Today they are producing about 18 billion pounds of rice.

                          Hydroelectric power

* One fact I learned today was that hydropower is the largest source of renewable energy.

        George Washington Carver and peanut farming

* One fact I learned about peanuts are that they raise good cholesterol and lower bad cholesterol.
* One thing I learned about peanut farming is that it provides jobs to almost 2,000 people.
* One thing that I learned about George Washington Carver which I will abbreviate as gwc is that he invented many many uses for peanuts as well as he told people that peanuts 

                                  Cajun Culture
* Some things i've learned about cajun culture is that their heritage includes spicy food. One of their big holidays is Mardi Gra and they speak Cajun-French.

*Today we visited the Mississippi River. The Mississippi River is the largest river in the U.S.A., The Mississippi river has many uses such as transportation of goods, or just transportation itself. It also has many dangers because sometimes it will flood. The flood of 2011 traveled 60 miles.

*Today we visited Mammoth Cave National Park. One new fact I learned is that if the 2nd and 3rd largest caves were put together Mammoth Cave would still be longer. Also most of the gunpowder that was used in The War of 1812 was made from saltpeter found in Mammoth Cave

*Today we visited the Smoky Mountains. One new fact I learned is that one of the mountains in the Smokies is the highest point in the Southeast. Another fact is that the Southeast growing season can be up to 300 days

*Today we visited the Atlantic Ocean I learned that 1800 people died in Hurricane Katrina.

*Today we visited Arkansas I learned that lots off natural resources are grown in the Southeast. Another fact is that lots of oil is found in The Gulf of Mexico.

The Acadians lived there for several years until the British forced them out as part of the 7 year war.  Many Acadians traveled south and settled in southern Louisiana.  I also learned that there Cajun food includes spicy food.

Day 2 * The Mississippi River has had many floods, some breaking heights of 57 feet tall, some having reached islands 60 miles and more.

Day 3 *While visiting Mammoth Cave National Parks in Kentucky, I learned that this huge cave is the largest cave system in the entire world. I also learned that Mammoth Cave has many underground rivers, ponds, and waterfalls and that it is very widely known for its eerie silence.

Day 4 *Today, we visited the Great Smoky Mountains and a few things I learned are that the Smokies are named for the fog that covers the mountainside, and that, because of the Southeast's mild climate, you can go there and zip-line, hike, and much more.

Day 5 *While hurricane hunting, I learned that hurricane hunters are a very crucial part of identifying hurricanes and their level, path, and damage. I also learned that Hurricane Katrina, in 2005, killed 1,800 people, breaking the record of the most deadly hurricane ever recorded.

Day 6 * Today, we visited a rice farm in Arkansas, and I learned a few new things about what kind of foods are natively grown, and how the agriculture business of the Southeast operates. One thing that I learned is that some special crops and fruits that this region grows are oranges, rice, peanuts, and, although it is not technically a crop, cotton. I also learned that almost half of the Southeast's rice, and that Georgia produces more peaches than the rest of the southeast combined.

Day 7 * While visiting a hydroelectric power plant, I learned that hydropower makes up seven percent of the United States' energy, making it the world's largest renewable power resource. I also learned that there are around 80,000 dams in the U.S.

Day 8 *Today we visited a peanut farm in Alabama. I learned that George Washington Carver never actually invented peanut butter, despite everyone saying he did.

Day 9 * Today, we visited Louisiana and learned about the Cajun culture. One thing I learned is that in the 1700s, a group of people settled in the Southeast, forming a tribe called Arcadia. Although, the British forced them out, which was part of a seven-year war. They then moved to Louisiana.

Day 10 * While we were visiting New Orleans, Louisiana, I learned that the city has grown very much ever since it was made, and has been through many natural disasters and still survived. *Today we went to a peanut farm and one thing I learned was if you keep growing cotton you will have no more nutarians so it will not grow. In order for it to grow again you need to grow peanuts because it takes nutarians from the air and puts it underground so when you grow cotton it will grow from the nutarians.
