Gather some different kinds of paper... you can use magazines, newspaper, envelopes, paper bags, food wrappers, etc.  Look for parts of the paper you can  cut hearts out of. Once you have your pieces, start to cut your hearts. Try to cut 10-20 hearts from all of the different paper you have. Try to make your hearts all different sizes. After you have made all of your hearts, arrange them on a base in a way that is interesting. Overlapping and going off the page helps to make your artwork more interesting. Glue your hearts down when you are happy with your arrangement. It's easy, fun, and it works really well!

PAINT RECIPE
1 cup of room temperature water
1 Tablespoon of corn starch
a small pan
plastic or styrofoam egg carton, a muffin pan or other small containers
1. Mix the water and cornstarch in the pan.
2. Cook on the stove just until it starts to boil and thicken.
3. Let the mixture cool.
4. Spoon a small amount of the mixture into the cups of the egg carton or muffin pan. I had enough mixture for 12 small cups.
5. Add different colors of food coloring to each cup. You will only need a few drops. Use drops of one color or try adding drops of two different colors in one cup to see what colors you can make.
6. Set up your painting space:
     newspaper
     a cup of water   
     paper to paint on
     paint brushes  (If you don't 
     have brushes you can use 
     Q-tips, a cut up sponge, a 
     plastic fork or an old 
     toothbrush. What else could 
     you use? Get creative!
7.  Paint!  Have Fun!!
