The highest levels of community engagement seem untouchable to teachers who want to maintain a healthy personal life. How can I support teachers to understand that it doesn't have to be a BIG TO DO to get caregivers and community stakeholders involved? What sorts of (relatively) easy to implement strategies with clear results are best for getting teachers started on this path?=

The published strategies "Designing a Family Partnership Plan," "Increasing Parent Involvement," and "Mapping Community Assets" are all strategies that touch on the "feeling connected" post in this Padlet. One thing that I feel like is missing, but might be present in other indicators for this outcome, are examples of service-learning projects or community-learning projects. In my mind, I think about projects like Johanna Hayes (2016 National Teacher of the Year) does with her students to build partnerships with her community and stakeholders and the reflections/assessment of these projects as an authentic view.

Love the strategy of creating academic parent teacher teams. I am wondering about adding more artifacts to make this strategy feel more concrete (tell more of the how). This is a great way for teachers to connect outreach with families with student achievement expectations. I think adding artifacts might make it feel more approachable to teachers.

Indicator 4-- You gather feedback from students and their families to drive improvement in the partnership

This indicator is exciting because, as we know, it's so important to gather feedback to review/refine/revise your practices. My favorite strategy in this indicator is Facilitating Effective Conferences because it is in these conferences, if done effectively, that teachers can receive feedback on the partnership. I would love to see more strategies in this indicator specifically around gathering feedback, especially in easy-to-do ways. For example, helping teachers seek feedback from parents via phone calls or emails (showing teachers how to solicit feedback). Or, providing more opportunities for parents to become involved in their students' learning even when they cannot be in the classroom (the interactive nature of seesaw comes to mind here), and then seeking feedback on that will be a good way to open the door of communication and giving feedback. Also, there is a student survey strategy here; maybe we could add a parent survey strategy for teachers to solicit feedback.

This excites me because it's a really positive way to begin the journey. Teachers and students alike are curious about one another, and getting to know one another's communities could be a really positive activity all around. Some activities that could be added are "getting-to-know-you" classroom activities, a fun way to start building teachers' knowledge of their students and their families (e.g. show and tell, family portraits, personal essays).

It's also a potentially small first step for teacher feeling overwhelmed.
