What drew me to this class was I had an idea about Latin American politics specifically in the Caribbean for instance Haiti, I did a whole paper about the political climate of the state as well as it's actors since its inception and it made me want to delve more into politics of the region. Based on my knowledge of Haiti they have went through multiple regime changes where some have been militaristic-nepotistic government through Duvalier and other leaders were democratic.
4. What I really want learn from this class is to understand how the democracy works in Latin America, 30 or so states most likely have established democratic governments but I want to understand the nuances of each democracy if that makes sense. 
5. I enjoy reading books and things that I really like to do on my days off or free time is to go out with friends and family, enjoy the scenery like hiking and riding a bike.

3.Im drawn to this class because my mom is Colombian and was born there so I have roots in Latin America. I feel as if I haven’t learned much about Latin American politics in my core political science classes (international politics, comparative politics)and it’s taught with a Eurocentric view. I also want to learn more beyond the stereotypes that define Latin American countries.  I read a book called Walking Ghosts by Steven Dudley in my genocide class and it was about the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) and the creation and destruction of their political party, Unión Patriótica (UP) and it definitely has sparked an interest in Guerilla groups in Lagin America. 
4.I expect to learn about the politics of Latin America, the issues now and how they came to be. I’m sure we will be focusing of specific countries such as Brazil etc and what Democracy means in Latin America.

3. I was drawn to this class because you don't always look into the problems outside the U.S. unless you have family else where. There have also been many conflicts that have increased throughout the years even now with COVID-19.
4. I expect to learn more about the current issues in Latin America. For example, I know that today there are still many countries that are very corrupt because of their presidents/governments. Therefore, those countries have a lot of poverty, discrimination and violence which in the long-run causes those countries to have a bad reputation. El Salvador is a country that has took a big turn especially now that it has more security, new and improved buildings and the violence is very little. Many tourists have been attracted to the landscapes and now feel safe when traveling to El Salvador therefore, they're investing in that country as well as spending when visiting.
