Anne Braden writes "A letter to white Souther Women." In this letter she writes about how white woman need to start to use their voices to speak out especially because black men were being incarcerated for no reason. She speaks about a man named Thomas Wansley and how he is in jail for the charge of rape. He was not fairly convicted and the woman was unable to identify him. She goes on to speak about the Myth of the Black Male Rapist, and how people were spreading propaganda and charging/assuming black men were rapists all the time without giving them fair judgement.

This is a statistic from Pete Wagner in 2012 who points out that black men are being incarcerated on a much bigger scale then any other race. This could be because we still have a racist society today.

Gloria Anzaldua writes "Speaking in Tongues: A Letter to Third World Woman Writers," and speaks directly towards black women in the letter. She speaks out and says that black women must make their writing a priority and that there ideologies must be read and spread to abolish racism and help the black community. Anzaldua says "I write because life does not appease my appetites and hunger." She is still hungry to create more change and writing can create knowledge and rebirth.

2Pac is one of my favorite rappers and this is one of my favorite songs. In his song "Changes," 2Pac writes
"I see no changes, all I see is racist faces
Misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under, I wonder what it takes to make this
One better place, let's erase the wasted"

In the "Black Lives Matter Guiding Principles," there are 13 main principles that the D.C. area educators speak about. The first principle is "Restorative Justice," which explains that they are looking to restore justice and freedom for blacks and create a loving and nurtured community. These principles explain how they want to spread love and accept everyone for who they are. All these educators are asking for is for everyone to accept blacks and create an environment of love and peace.

On Saturday, May 14th, an 18 year old White man shot 13 people in a supermarket in Buffalo. 11 out of the 13 people who were shot were black. The attacker, Gendron, revealed that he had been planning this attack for months. This shows that there is still major racism and hatred out there and this needs to be stopped. This man along with many others need to be educated and learned. To shoot 10 people dead because of their race is a devastating and crushing tragedy.
