         <title>Passing on Genetic Traits Model</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Each student received a baggy with one "genotype" for each trait. Students then played "war" and documented which genotype would win.<br>2. The goal was to simulate how traits are passed down in an offspring and how we determine what the phenotypes are based on being dominate vs. recessive <br>3. It helped them visualize how an offspring looks (or doesn't look) like their parents as well as practice determining phenotype vs. genotype.<br>4. The fact that they only had one genotype to lay down when in reality we each have two genotypes that our body randomly chooses might have increased a misconception that you can "choose" the genotype you give/there's only one. It doesn't authentically represent that you could have hidden alleles.<br>5. I would have given them both genotypes for each trait. Ie. Cc (one curly genotype and one c - straight haired genotype) and then they would chose, without looking, which to lay down. That more parallels what happens in reality.  </div>]]></description>

         <title>How do Cells become Cancerous-6th grade</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A. Students watched a video and sketched notes on cancer and carcinogens<br> B. Students read/sketched/annotated 2 different reading on cells and cancer.<br>C. Students had group discussion about the readings since one of them was at high school level. They shared what they learned.<br>D. Students were given a rubric of expectations for their Educreations model and also shown how to use Educreations.<br>E. Students then created an Educreations showing their understanding of how cells become cancerous.<br>F. Students will then grade each other using the rubric.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Diffusion</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Students completed a diffusion experiment by observing how a drop of food coloring reacts in a beaker of water. <br><br>The model allowed the students to witness firsthand a higher concentration substance (food coloring) diffusing into the lower concentration substance (water). They used the slow motion feature, adding an element of fun.<br><br>It alleviated the idea science is boring. <br><br>Next time I would have them put music into the video for dramatic affect.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Heating and Cooling a Solid</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Students watch teacher heat blue crayons in a pan and pour it in an aluminum pie tin.&nbsp;<br><br>Students "painted" the&nbsp; blue heated crayon on canvas using toothpicks and Popsicle sticks while the teacher heated up red crayons.&nbsp;<br><br>Teacher poured the melted red crayon on the cooled blue crayon.&nbsp; As students continued to painted with the mixed, heated crayons, they got to see how they combined together...from solid to liquid and then liquid to solid. Afterwards, they reflected on the science experiment as they had used a Scientific Method worksheet throughout the project.</div>]]></description>
